Anyone who has had the rear axle seals please report the the National Highway Safety Web Site. Mine leaked so bad I was getting some rear diff oil on the rear brakes. This has become a safety issue and needs to be addressed.

The service tech just told me today that nissan has upgraded the seals. They are going to replace both seals even though only one side is leaking.

replacement seal part # on mine was #43252-7S200. Let us know if yours is different.
herpov--is the part number you have given us from the white sticker near the diff?

Here's what my axle seal leak looked like. Since the dealer drained my Schaeffers 267 Moly 80W90 synthetic-blend, (pic shows full synthetics don't climb like the blend does ??? The stuff sure kept the diff cover cool., and put in that Nissan Corp. full synthetic stuff, I think I might be posting on the rear-end failure thread before long. Well I guess a 4-pinion spider gear would be pretty nice, so I shouldn't complain.

No, it is the part # of the seal itself.

They did not drain mine, they just topped it off when they were done. No need to remove the diff. cover that I know of.
My neighbor's '04 KC. big tow is leaking on the driver side axle. He doesn't seem too concerned.
Hey! that was my first post. Been hanging around for a few months and decided to join the club.

Now I need a few more, so I can post a picture!

Did they crack off your old bearings and press on new ones on yours?

They had to send the axle, or some part of it, out to a local shop because the did not have a press big enough.

I can tell they took off the cover too, because there is some of that orange high temp RTV showing. I would have used black but no big deal. And they fill with the Nissan synth.

New bearing and new seal. Did not remove diff cover.
Took mine in today. Left rear leaking . Dealer said it spun a bearing and their going to replace the whole rear end with a new one. 30,000 mi. 04.
Mine is going in next week for a new axle, I have to drive it in the meantime with the leaky seals...Seems odd they want to replace the entire rear axle, but whatever...Hopefully there is some update to it. My friend has the same exact truck and year as mine and he has gone through all the same problems as well. Well his Diff Gernaded, mine just has leaky seals.

24k 05. Will file a report tonight.

BTW, I still have the factory tires and have not done any mods to the rear end....Although I serously don't understand why chaning the tires would be such a big deal that it messes up the seals...thats BS... Tires are a replaceable part, and it is especialy common to change the size of tires on a truck..

Looks like about 20 reports so far. If you have a leak or had a seal replaced, please report. Thank You.

Can you file these with NSTHA? (however you call it) If so we ought to keep track of these like the rear ends it seems the read ends and axle seals are a major flaw for the Titan
Yes, please do. www.nhtsa.dot.gov

When filing with NHTSA, they ask questions as if they are interested in whether the failures caused an accident, not if a part failed. I'm not sure I'm going to file it. It asks you speed of the incident, etc. I was only planning on reporting that my Diff leaked on the left rear.
Anyone think Nissan will have a recall on this item soon? My truck has 77,000 miles so out of warrranty and the axle seal is leaking.
mine as a minor leak and I am getting a new rear diff assembly. Does anyone want pictures ?
Hey, I noticed they have a TSB on it. Something about a breather? Does the TSB mean anything to us? I have take mine in 2 times. No mods to the back in of my truck. The last time I took it to another dealer and they were trying to tell me I had to take it back to the one that did the original work. After I pretty much told them no they looked at it and said there was no leak despite the diff. being wet looking around the bolts. The said they understood what I was talking about though. They didn't fix my leaking rear windows either!
