Rear Drop Shackle Issues???

4228 Views 19 Replies 10 Participants Last post by  Leadsled124
I'm thinkibg about taking off my front PRG level kit and buying the rear drop shackle to level it that way. Instead of lifting the front, I want to try to lower the back. I was wondering of any issues anyone who has these might have?.?. Any clunking, knocking, rubbing, anything?

Nah, you just need to paint them before installing. They work fine.
ive heard they rub up against the bed and youll only get about a one inch drop, not two. if you dont tow a lot remove the leaf spring and youll get a nice even stance. this is what i did and i like the look. the ride feel is the same and if you dont like it you can always install it back on and you saved some money in the proccess. its a dead even drop.
I think there are several options for shackles, aren't there? I installed the heavy duty Total Chaos shackles which I got from PRG. They supposedly lowered the rear 3/4", but it really isn't even noticeable. There are shackles available from that McGaughey's??? too I think, which are supposed to be good for 2" drop.

I have no rubbing issues, or any issues at all with my TC shackles.

Let us know what you decide and posts some pics when you do.
I'd like to drop the rear for a sport truck look. Lifts are just too expensive. Which leaf do you remove? How much are the McGaughey shackles.
I have the spring tech shackles. Lowered just over an inch even though they advertise 2 inch. No rubbing issues and install took me ten minutes using my friends lift. My truck rides smoother since weight gets distributed to rear more. Noticable on broken up roads.
Can you gimmie a link to where you got them? That sounds like what I want.

Link doesn't work for me...I tried typing in CTs address in place of the asterisks, but still a no-go.
make sure you use .org not .com
I have drop shackles on my 07. im not sure of the brand though. Dropped it about 1.5". Its still not level but close enough because I still haul crap in the bed and I cant have it any lower.

There we go...I appreciate that...forgot all about the org.

Also I have the suspensionmaxxx shackles from Ebay...had them for a while now but still haven't installed them. I am debating on doing the leaf pull now that I have read the info from the link...whatever I do I need to do it quick. It is getting chilly up here in the great AK and I need to put my stockers back on anyways, so maybe I can do the other stuff at the same time.
try it you wont feel a difference in the suspension.:)
What is ct? I am doing going to do this today.

i wanna go like 3/4" down to 1" MAX with a shackle. I want to throw my overloa spring in and i figure with a shackle this size i will still be level.

You guys taking the overload off the stock suspension.... How far does it drop?? the width of the leaf or more?
i made some shackles for my truck made them as long as you could make them and the rear springs almost rub on the underneath of the bed about 1/4 in gap. and it only lowered it 1.3 in which was not enough to level it soooo got old of that and i removed the last leaf spring which gave it a even lowering i believe it was 3in lower then stock . the rear is alot softer over bumps and can not hold as much weight so if you tow do not do it
