I have a 2005 2wd and just changed my rear gears, and did not have to reflash

I have a 05 two wheel drive . I was thinking about change gear ratio . I heard you have to reflash the computer is this true

What about cruise control does it still work . I thought i saw somewhere that cruise wouldn't work.
I haven't tried it, I don't use cruise control very much, I'm still in the break-in period of the gears, I only have 250 miles on the new gears
