Rear pumpkin sealer goop?

While washing my truck today I noticed about a 7" piece of hard goop hanging off of my rear pumpkin. On closer inspection it looks like the sealer they used had been a little too much and mushed out - much like if you glued to pieces of wood together and had used too much glue.

I was able to give it a little tug and the piece came off. I inspected the rest of the seal and it looked like it was fine.

Do I have anything to worry about here?

Only if 90-weight decides to follow it...
Should be fine. As long as it tore along the edge of the cover.

Yeah there isn't any gap between the two halves. I just can't believe it was put on so thick that it would dry with a bead like that. I suppose it's better than two thin.

i watched two mechanics rebuild the front end of a tow motor (fork lift) before. it was blue rtv silicone sealant... it looked like the transaxle was raped by 30 smurfs with all the blue goop squeezing out of the seals. my dad and i had a good laugh. needless to say they used a little too much sealant around everything...

as long as there are no gas and the seal maintains integrity you should be ok... some one on the line probably got a little sealant gun happy.
