Just want to know which wire is the power wire on the rear sensors that I could splice into for the red power wire of my rear camera I have installed. I have already tied into the reverse light and grounded to the chassis but there is a second red power wire coming off the cameras yellow video input. The problem is this wire is too short so the rear sensor seems to be the closest point to tap into.

I have ran the main yellow video input to the monitor and spliced into an ignition wire up front but I get nothing when I put it into reverse so this leads me to believe this second red wire needs to be connected as well. Although I have read that this wire doesn't need to be connected and can be capped and taped up. I am a bit lost at this point. Any help would be huge. FYI it's a 2011 SV Crew Cab. Here is a link to the exact type of camera and wiring setup I am installing.

One red wire only needs power to the camera. The one in the yellow video feed line doesn't appear to go anywhere other than most likely, sending twelve volts to power the view screen (which should be wired to a full time key on only 12v source or into a cigarette lighter plug that is powered when key on), but if it happens to be running also to the camera, you don't want both being fed from different 12volt triggers or something will go fizz due to 24volts going to a 12volt device. Does the wiring diagram show that you can have simultaneous triggers? At any rate, you should invest in an inexpensive multi-meter ....$3 at Harbor Frt. to make sure you don't fry stuff.

I'd be very cautious touching anything that has to do with the sonar sensors....they are expensive to replace and an eddy current would most likely fry one in a nano-second.
