Hey all, I've been reading this site for a while, but just now got around to making an account. Last month, I bought a base model Titan XD. I bought the base model because it had most of the features that were important to me, and the price was right. Anyway, there are a few things I'd like to add to get the truck exactly as I want it. One of these items is the rear view mirror. I currently have the base mirror, but I would like to add one with Homelink. Looking around, I see the 2016 NV3500 has just what I'm looking for. The part number is 999Q6-VX300, and it includes a monitor for a rear camera. Would this work on my XD? Could I buy a factory XD back up cam and hook it to the mirror for an OEM-style finish? Any thoughts and suggestions are welcomed. Thanks!

Welcome, Last Ride. You may be looking at the Homelink mirror with the camera embedded in it. If so, I wonder if the tailgate camera and linkage even exist for you to hookup the mirror to. Being a base model, your XD was wired at the factory for certain features and the rear camera was not one of them. Even getting power to use the Homelink feature will be a task, as you'll have to figure out power and ground connections.

Perhaps the bigger concern with making any of these changes is they could end up affecting your warranty. If there are any electrical problems that result from modifying your Titan, most dealers will not cover the repairs.

Maybe I'm thinking it would be simpler than it actually is. I was thinking the accessories were like modules where the plugs exist on all models but were just unused. Honestly, the camera is expendable, but I thought it might be nice to have if I was changing anyway.

At the same time, my deal on the truck originally included the Homelink mirror (no camera) and rear sonar installed by the dealership. They didn't seem to think it was a problem. Ultimately, there was some miscommunication (read "I got screwed over") and those items never made it onto the truck. Looks like I have more research to do!

I assume those "extras" were not in writing from the dealership?

It was on the original work up sheet, but apparently not on the signed contract. Oddly, the prices were the same....

Just another lesson on why it's critical to READ the final sales contract carefully! Any verbal or sales "workup sheet" is worth ZIP when it comes to a legally binding agreement.

Yep, that's why I didn't make a huge scene out of it. The salesman was a friend (like a real friend, not some guy I met once or twice), but that's no excuse for not reading the paperwork.

My dealer added a 539 dollar fee for three years of door ding protection that I didn't ask for and later found out was being offered to other customers as a free inducement to buy from their dealership. Lesson learned for me, you have to go over the contract with a fine tooth comb. Right now I'm looking for the part number for the 7-INCH COLOR MONITOR AND VOICE RECOGNITION FOR AUDIO AND NAVIGATION option that is on the SV Comfort and Convenience package. If its under 1500 I'd consider adding it to my truck.
