got a flowmaster Y pipe dual 2.25" in, single 3" out, and a 3030SB 26" powerstick chambered/straight through muffler. hoping to get some mandrel bent pipe for the 90* from the drivers to passenger side, also hoping to unbend it a little or just make custom bends and not a 90* I can cut it at whatever length and I'm hoping to cut partly into the bend or VERY close to it so I can somehow squeeze it to less of a bend than a 90*. anyway all threads in this section are worthless without pix so here are a couple ;) will be working on it tomorrow so should have vids then :D

Subscribed, can't wait to hear this set up! Bet your more excited than we are lol

NAH, more excited to be getting another dvd player soon, my pos 09 model top of the line JVC took a crap on me back in feb... pos lol. a little stoked, also will be straight 2" piping where my secondary cats are right now ;)

Haha I bet that thing is going to rival spintech in decibels. Can't wait to see the vid, bet it sounds great!

ok, so the rundown ABSOLUTELY NO VIDS TONIGHT UNLESS I CAN SOMEHOW TOW IT OUT OF THE CULDESAC it's THAT LOUD. if there is a word to describe WAY TOO FIN LOUD it'd probably be that. I'm in shet tons of trouble when the wife hears it AND the mother inlaw :O she's a cop here and this is her district and we live in an apartment we rent from her built under her main house. so I have no way to avoid her, it was loud ROLLING DOWNHILL TO GET HOME. seriously I'm gonna need to figure out how to make it ALOT quieter ASAP... resonators I suppose. anyway, I'll try to get some pix/vid tomorrow. I'm scared to even start/drive it in the day in our little culdesac :(

so I started by looking under there and realizing the only way to avoid 90* bends on the drivers side was to cut the B pipes shorter, so I cut the cats off and welded the flanges where the begining of the cat used to be. then we had HUGE problems with his crush bender WAY over crushing the pipe to the point my 2.25" diameter 45* bend was more crushed than the factory 2" Y sections  so I called around trying to find a way to get bends without driving my truck with open headers and no rear cats :( then finally after freakin out for a good hour I decided to try and make some 2.5" used tailpipe bends work so I could drive it. ended up ghetto rigging like 3 2.5" bends from the factory after muffler tailpipe to get back to the flowmaster Y pipe. having flares on BOTH ends of the 2.25" pipe being my just after B pipe and the flowmaster Y pipe so I can get a piece bent and it'd just slide it be tacked up, pull the bolt on exhaust off and full welded back to 2.25" pipe. the Y pipe goes straight into the powerstick. it sounds like a fricken full race vehicle... DT LT headers into just straight pipe dumping into the powerstick turned down/out the pass side at an angle. it vibrates the ground when gas is applied at any rate :( I Love it, but not for my truck LOL. seems like it has more mid/top pull from the small 200' flat before coming down the hill home. my buddy lives 2 blocks uphill from me and one block over so I pulled out from his house hit it for a little to see what kind of pull it had, then turned down and just the tranny holding the revs from such a steep grade it was too loud bouncing off the houses  so pix/vids tomorrow. dunno how loud it'll sound, but I'll have someone yelling at me from the passenger back tire/where my tip is so you can tell just how loud it is.. as for how the tone is, really it's too loud to even care what it sounds like...

Start that up in a parking garage

#9 ·
ROFLMAO! I knew it was going to be loud.
Like a friend of mine with his 68' RS/SS w/396 in the parking garage. We set off every alarm there. LOL. Coming down the circular exit, he would rev it on every level and the alarms would start screaming. LOL

#10 ·
TBH, I don't think it needs a parking garage to set off those aftermarket alarms. my old setup before headers could set them off driving down the street, this could probably set them off in a parking lot that's open like wal-mart.. I used to have really loud stereo's that I could set them off from over 100yards away, pull at the VERY entrance to wal-mart's parking structure slam it hard and they'd start goin off. then as I pull in I could keep setting off more. at one point I wanted it loud enough to set off cars airbags but that'd be pretty hard...

LOL, change out the powerstick to a real muffler not a race muffler..

some pix, vids later, it's louder than HawaiiTitans srt-10 with straight pipes going into duals he has no cats either and its ALOT louder than his truck... let him hear it last night I was somehow silly enough to take it out at 10pm and bring it back UPHILL at 12am :( feeling really bad for the neighbors, it's louder than a harley. one guy said "that's straight up just for the track" and he has a souped up evo.. anyway vids in a few hours, supposed to take the wife to the beach.. I changed out the volant for the aFe hoping it runs a little richer and quiets it down some. I know there is definite sound difference with certain intakes that do effect the exhaust.

Hahaha....you ain't gonna make that setup any quieter unless you ditch the powerstick. They used them way back in the day because the pipes back then were tiny. Powersticks made small pipes sound good. You won't mellow it out much with just a resonator. That powerstick is basically a pipe within a pipe. Of course it's going to be ridiculously loud.......what did you expect? Hope you get it sorted out tho!!

#14 ·
I said I was ditching it. only reason it's on now was I didn't get a 3" to 2.5" reducer, I'm gonna try to get my flowmaster 40 back on asap.

try to understand guys, in this vid, I was yelling top of my lungs onto the camera on the second rev at the same time it was revving not the second yell after, that was good measure as I had ALOT of adrenaline going lol. fukken loud is all I can say. I revved out some harleys and they looked at me like WTF  they thought they were loud LOL

Pretty similar in loudness as when I had my open x-pipe setup. It was scary loud but I loved it for all of a week. Made 2 kids on the sidewalk jump. One was on a bike and almost fell over and the other jumped backwards and grabbed his head. Mean I know but funny as hell.

Open season!

open X pipe setup? no cats? don't understand the open x pipe

as for the smartypants comment in your thread, honestly, I was thinking of my wifes dual borla setup on her expedition when I thought about drive by another moving vehicle loudness, comparing to still camera/drive by and I was surprised at in GENERAL while driving by another car it's not as loud as sitting still camera while driving past is all it meant. but the second drive by was really quieter than the 1st one u posted it sounds like to me... I'm not one to care for loudness that much. so I wasn't trying to insult you, nor do I care how loud you want your setup. do a search on some of my postings, when I insult someone you and everyone else who reads it can easily see that I'm insulting you... btw the second vid u posted sounds quieter than the 1st  in the smartypants reply, it doesn't sound like you even opened it up the night time vid... I dunno, not trying to be ****y there either but feel free to feel that if u want, really won't hurt my sleep LOL

I can vouch for this exhaust, it's pretty loud lol, but I like it.

The pull seems like midrange comes on real strong compared to down low, but I think when he gets the tune right, the pull will be allot more linear.

Kinda smells like it's running lean now, well compared to the smell of my exhaust. I really think he will pick up a good bit of power with the AFR set right.

I'm not sure on how the Titan's ECU is set up on open and closed loop, maybe some other folks can chime in on that.

I can tell a difference on the pull though from the last time I rode in his truck back when he only had intake exhaust and bullydog, pullls harder now.

it's FAR from a race vehicle like your truck, that thing pulls hard all gears all rpms shifts and lets up just enough to suck you into your seat again when the next gear hits and pulls again til shifting LOL. but my truck SOUNDS like a drag car atm.. gonna try and get my flowmaster put back on today if my buddy can do it. I'd like to be able to hammer it, so I can actually feel the pull more of the time. I pounded it yesterday pretty much from a stop and it does pull down low a little I put the aFe back on that may have helped. I really gotta get on it from a full stop to see how much wheel spin I get to know for sure. I don't have a TT tho, and my tranny mount is torn and it slams gears sometimes so really instead of throwing $1,400@ exhaust I really should've put it toward the tranny LOL anyway. I have a 3" body lift so and don't have any marks under the cab like the UCAs/coilbucket contact so I seriously doubt the noise is the tranny hitting the cab, moreso the tranny dumping gears could be still hitting I suppose... maybe I'll stick bumpstops on top of the tranny after I get the mount replaced just incase lol

I'll try to get more vids today if possible, really I need a partner and my wife is throwing a baby shower so can't do it, plus she finally actually HATES my truck atm lol

Yeah I know you weren't really jacking with me. I just like givin' people sh*t that's all. I like to mess around like that. It really is loud as hell in person. You gotta hear it in person to get the full effect, or turn the volume up to where it sounds loud and that's about what it's like. My cam has a pretty good quality of audio but the vol. is kinda quiet. If you're standing by the pipes and I blip it good, it will make your ears ring.

Thanks Tom, I'll just be happy to hit 12's with these tires, then I'll most likely do some trannny upgrades, some drag radials, and then everything will turn into the engine upgrades. After I come back from Oahu I'll hit up the track again on a Sunday time trails during the big races since that's the best track prep. I gotta flush and change the tranny oil and filter and rear end oil first.

You gotta come out with me to the track Tom, super fun to say the least.

Yeah so, tranny mounts, get that afr into check, finish your exhaust, change your tranny and rear end oil, and your set.

I'll say that overall your truck pulls much harder then when I rode in it last, midrange really kicks, and that's untuned. When you get it tuned good you watch the difference.

I gotta say, I really didn't expect the powerstick to be that loud lol, but it's a good loud, I like it lol.

Another cheap way to mellow it out a little would be to just run more 3inch piping up over the rear end, and have it exit in the stock location with a good tip. I think it would make it to where it's much more bearable for you compared to the turndown right after the muffler.

The bad thing with the tailpipe idea is it will drone out the a*s. I don't know what it is about our trucks but you need a big old muffler to get rid of dronage. Get that dude sorted out my friend!!

#22 ·
no more powerstick, took it off today, just got done. the flowmaster 40 is MUCH quieter. not as tuned sounding tho :( oddly enough the powerstick 3030SB had a cleanish rev even when reving high it was a little raspy too but not as bad as the flowmaster imo. stoked that I can drive my truck again :)

#24 ·
it will be louder imo but don't know the 2.25"s may somehow be quieter...

#25 ·
Just got back from the muffler shop, they are loud, too loud for my wife thats for sure. Going back tomorrow to have it removed. The muffler shop is going to put my old one back on for free. But I'm thinking I will just keep the dual out the rear and go with a flowmaster50 dual in dual out. I will think on this today..

#26 ·
 do you have cats? I have no cats so it was VERY loud, dunno, the dude said the difference between all the sizes was volume. I asked about 2.5" vs 3" and he said it'd just be louder, I was specifically asking about performance, I don't think that he understands flow velocity as much as a performance exhaust maker should. but I don't know much about it. really the volume it allows to flow has a direct influence on tuning as a whole since it's essentially just a tuned sound straight pipe from what I can muster...

mine is rolling around my bask seat floor... I'm gonna try to sell it to someone or trade it for something.. maybe I'll join the tundra forum LOL

#27 ·
Hahaha......I applaud you guys for stepping up and being guinea pigs and trying them first, but I gotta tell ya, I told ya so! Those things are insanely loud. Almost like having no muffler at all. You need a bigger volume of space for a "chambered" muffler to take away any type of bad sound and modify it to have a good sound. Take Flowmaster and Aerochambers. They're about the same size and produce very similar sounds with the Aerochamber having a deeper more mellow sound and the Flow having a hollowy metallic sound.

So, I only have the rear stock CATs and it was still loud. Like I said, heading back there in a hour to see have them swap back to my old exhaust for free :). I do have the option for putting on a dual in/dual out Flowmaster 50 SUV muffler, should I try this?

Remember, I have high flow cats coming in on Monday as well.
