remote starts -need advice please

Im looking at several local options for a remote start and would appreciate advice. Brands and installed prices are: Crimestopper 2016-$760, Viper 791-$500, Excalibur Al-2000-$500. Viper is at Best Buy and rest are from car audio shops. I am leaning toward the Excalibur because of the shop. I have (and love) an 08 LE CC with all options. Would I lose the option where the drivers seat retracts when you open the door? I've read all previous threads on remote starters. Thanks.

I had a local shop here put a Viper (DEI) remote start (no alarm) in for $275 out the door. I was the first customer to use the new Viper that doesnt eat a key, plus it uses the factory keyfob. It's simple works great and I didnt have the need for an alarm. Watch to make sure they do not splice using scotch locks instead soldiering their connections in the harness.
Which model Viper is it?

x2 Like to know this also.
I am working a graveyard tonight, I'll give a part numer as soon as I get home in the morning. I sure love it espically when I work at night, start my truck for a few minutes and leave. By the way how do you like the new GSXR? I picked up an 07 also in December, love it

Absolutely love it! Just installed a Taylormade exhaust on it and now it sounds as good as it looks.

My 2008 comes with an alarm - at least that's what I assume a Vehicle Security System is on the invoice. Would the Viper work with it? I want to add a remote starter and keep all the factory stuff.
I had the dealer install an auto-start in the wifes 05 Quest for under $300. Works with the factory FOB and works perfectly. I'd try the dealer first...they do have some deals if you catch them at the right time.
Update my remote start still works awesome!!! Just 3 times using the factory keyfob and bingo!!!! Love it, greatest thing since cheese. :upsidedow
Viper, Valet, (Valet is just the remote start without the alarm) Python, Clifford, and Hornet are all made by Directed Electronics Inc. (DEI) at - directed.com and are all pretty much the same inside. I don’t think Excalibur is part of DEI. I have a Viper w/Remote start and love it. The new Xpresskit add on that interfaces the system with the factory remote/unlock and gets around the Keysense Immobilizer is a great improvement that wasn’t around when I did mine.

Like BigJ said, “Make sure they solder not crimp the remote start splicing”. A good installer will let you watch. That “No One Allowed Because of Insurance” is BS. Just remember, if you help that will cost you extra.

Two great sources of info are - drdetailshop.com and an installer’s forum - the12volt.com.
Jim: I've read where the Viper system works up to 1 mile. The system replies back to you when the vehicle starts. Have you experienced such starting distances with your system or heard of such? THANKS much.
BigJ, who did the install? I'd like to call them and talk to them because I'm getting the same story from everyone in my area about the installs for a remote starter.
The remote start that Nissan uses is by JBS, and yes, it's also installed on Titans using only the factory FOB.
Don't know about the rest of you but to me the Factory FOB has a fairly short range.

They are doing my Maxima with the same Del system this week using the factory fob.

Define short....lol. Mine works from a good distance depending on location.
Short??? Its not how short it is, its how you use it:jester: . Can't complain here mine works great at work longer than I want to walk in the early morning after a graveyard shift.

The biggest Nissan dealer in WA state doesn't install them. They sub the work out to a local shop that charges $450
My dealer Team Nissan in Machester, NH offers the Auto Mate remote start. They told me they install it in house and wanted to charge me $385.

I'm still shopping around...
