Went in for an alignment and they told me I needed to replace my upper and lower ball joints. So, I ordered the PRG UCA Ball Joint Refresh Kit and need to get the lower ball joints done as well.

QUESTION: Can the lower ball joints alone be changed or do you need to replace the entire LCA? Thanks for any responses.

If you do a search, there are old threads out there where some have done just the ball joints. When it comes time for mine, I will probably just do the whole arm. I believe Moog is one of the preferred or more often used.

If your control arm are in good shape you can change the ball joints pretty easy. They are a press fit, but it's easy, trust me.

lots of guys like to replace the entire LCA, thats how i did it. Going in to that project you need to be prepared with sawzall blades and new cam bolts. Chances are the existing cam bolts are seized and won't come out so you have to cut each bolt in two spots to get the arm to come out. It's easy to check for that, take the nut off each bolt and see if they'll slide out. make sure truck and arm is jacked up appropriately, and mark your eccentric washers so you know where to tighten them down at for alignment.

Moog problem solver lower ball joints are the best. Try and get those in your new lower arms if you can.

If you already need an alignment the new arms and bolts may not be a bad idea.
The problem is that if your cam bolts are seized, then they probably don't need adjustment anyway.......unless you've hit something or had an accident etc.

I'd look into the Moogs and let your mechanic figure out the rest.
