Hello Titan Talk,

I recently bought Rockford Fosgate Punch P1692 6 x 9-Inches Full Range Coaxial Speakers due to my OEM speaker being blown out. When I had taken the door panel off and removed the old speaker, I found that the plastic mounting bracket did not fit these speakers.. The plastic mounting bracket has a lip along the edge of the mount, and it prevented me from installing. I was forced to trim off the plastic lip from the mount in order to replace the speaker as a temporary measure. This is the first time that I have replaced a speaker in a car and I did do quite a bit of research but I was not anticipating this problem.

Does anyone know if there is a plastic mounting bracket for a 2006 Nissan Texas Titan (Front Driver Door) that will be universal or at least allow me to mount the speaker properly?

Much thanks in advance!!

I'm not a pro mechanic and don't do much work on my own 2005 but we just replaced my stock speakers ( front and back doors ) and the back doors we had to drill 1 or 2 new holes into the plastic mount and the door itself to make holes... I know this isn't the ideal option for everyone but I doubt that door will ever be taken apart again and no one will ever know there's random holes in it. Just be careful not to hit anything behind it if you do go this route. My doors work fine.

If you decide to go back to the OEM Rockford Fosgate system speaker, let me know (PM me). I bought a replacement for my 2009 Pro4x with the RF stereo and traded the truck in on a 2017 Pro4x before i got around to installing it. I'll let you have it for a song if you want to go back to OEM. For what it's worth, you may have issues with aftermarket (even RF) speakers as the impedances and such for these "premium" branded stereo systems can be different that off the shelf speakers. Those RF systems in the old Titans were pretty awesome... probably the only OEM stereo system I've ever owned that sounded better the louder you cranked it.... sadlyt, the new RF system in the 2017 doesn't seem to be as good... for starters, you can only adjust Treble and Bass... no midrange adjustment.
