Resetting Passenger Airbag Light

21677 Views 8 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  drpeeb
I had my dash apart last year to add airbag controls, etc. When I put it back together the passenger airbag light was blinking on the instrument display.
I had it in the shop for something else so they reset it for me.

I had it apart again to hard wire my sirius radio now and again the airbag light is blinking. I disconnected the battery for 20 - 30 minutes thinking this would reset it but it did not.

Does anyone know how I can reset it without having to take it in and having to pay to have it done?

Thank you in advance, Rick

Key in ingition
1. turn to run (dont start) wait till the airbag light just starts to flash (about 3 sec.)
2. turn key to off.
3. wait 10 seconds.
4. repeat six times. start truck should be gone.
If not your timing was a little off. try again.
Air bag lights only come on when something, including the warning light, is disconnected and you turn the key on. In the future don't turn the key on until everything is reconnected.
glad i found this thread, i had my passenger seat out for 2 days installing my amp. im gonna try this tomo to get the light to go out.

FYI - Rather than 6 times, mine re-set after only 4 times ...

... and maybe even only 3 times; I was so set on watching my 10 second timer and quickly turning my key off once the seat belt light went out I didn't even wait until it was blinking. So it might've re-set after 3 or even 2 times.

All I know is NightStalker's instructions worked! Thanks!
