The rf system has a speed sensitive loudness control, faster you go the higher the volume, slower you go the lower the volume. Could be a problem with that. I heard that can be turned off. Check manual, turn it off and see if it persists. Good luck.

Wow, this site is great...lots of help and advice. I just bought a Titan LE King Cab a week ago, and I love it. I got the RF radio b/c sound was very important to me. But, I cannot tell you how dissapointed I am in the FM Radio reception. It's terrible and VERY annoying when the sound quality jumps all the time. Sounds almost like it's going in and out of stereo. Just my 2 cents, but mine seams to "go out" of stereo when I am driving...not usually sitting at a light. I wonder if it's a interferance issue. Just wandering is it even worth taking to the dealer or should I just call Nissan first...any thoughts?

CALL NISSAN!

There is nothing the dealer can do but make sure the wires are plugged in. Most of us have check this and nothing is disconnected. I would guess something needs to be done to the receiver mechanicaly (replacement would be nice!)

I have to say, my FM reception is better than the aftermarket stereo I had in my other truck. However, I had another problem the other day....Have any of you had your CD player just quit playing in the middle of a song? Mine quit the other day, and I could'nt change tracks or change CD's. I turned it off, turned it right back on, and it has worked fine since. Very weird.

My FM reception is terrible, especially when moving. The dealer check the connections and could find nothing wrong with that. The dealer contacted Nissan for some guidance. I was pleased to find that the dealership was so progressive. When talking to the Nissan rep, he said that Country Nissan had called in with the problem. Sounds like the type of service department that will do good by me.

Anyhow, Nissan needs to see how widespread the problem may or may not be, so call if you have the radio problem.

I have the same issue with RF RDS 6CD no SAT. I'm calling today. I love the web!

RF radio Problems

I have been reading many compliants on this board in reference to the radio problems. I have been considering purchasing the Titan, but I am concerned about this problem. I think if many of the people that are having this problem report it to the Office Of Defects, then Nissan may wakeup and take some action. The web site of Office Of Defects is:

http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/complain/complaintsearch.cfm

You would be able to file the problem there. The more people that file the complaint, the quicker Nissan should take action.

If you let the "radio" issue stop you from buying the Titan...you're missing out, way out. Heck if you're that concerned don't get the RF system and put in an aftermarket set up later. Once you get behind the wheel and hear the the engine rumble you won't listen want to anything else anyways. :upsidedow

Just keep the complaints with Nissan and they will fix.

I just got off the phone with Nissan, and the customer service rep said that they were aware of the problem and that engineering was looking into it. However, he really didn't have any more specific information and said that they didn't know when (or I suppose IF) a service bulletin was going to be issued.

I too am on a quest to find a fix for this crappy reception. My truck has been at the dealer for two days...all I got was "it's supposed to be like that....it's a problem with the radio station, not the radio" WTF?!? I have two other cars that don't have this problem!!! Finally raised hell with the service manager and he called the area rep. The have admitted the problem exists and they are working on a fix.

Let's keep each other informed and keep pressing Nissan....there is no excuse for a $20k+ truck to have this problem!

Has anyone contacted RF about this? Chances are they just put their name on the system and had little do with with design or creation (maybe the drivers, their cheaper models).

But, I bet if they heard how much trouble there was with something with their name on it, they would be VERY interested.

Who makes the head unit???

My truck (LE) won't be in until next month but I'm curious if anyone has pulled the radio to see who makes the head unit. A lot of car maker tout Bose, Inifinity, etc. but the head units are still made by the same company who normally does business with that car maker. My 90 Maxima had Bose written on the cassette door and speakers but the head unit itself had a Clarion label on it when you pull the unit out. These companies make speakers and amps, not head units.

Clarion does make the head unit for the Titan as well.

It's either a Panasonic or Clairion unit.
