Hey guys need some help… Not really a Titan specific question but I thought I could get some help here.

My son joined the Army last Nov and has completed his Basic, AIT and Airborne schools in GA and is on his way to Ft Bragg NC. This week I am driving his ’06 Titan 4x4 CC from PHX AZ to Ft Bragg NC so he can have his truck. His truck has a 6” lift, Big Nitto tires with NO mud flaps, Flow Master cat-back and dark tinted windows. All perfectly legal in AZ.

My question: Should I be worried about being pulled over for vehicle modifications while traversing through NM, TX, LA, MS, AL, GA, SC, NC? I’m especially interested in NC where my son will be driving it for the next 4 years (while not on deployment). Is NC anal about lifted trucks or aftermarket exhaust? Will he need to pull the tint or install mud flaps?

Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks
Eric

As far as traveling through different states goes I myself wouldn't worry about it. But if you are pulled over by any local or state LEO in the states you are traveling through hopefully they will over look it since you are passing through. As far as NC goes I looked up the tint law and different parts have different emission I didn't look up about the mud flaps. Hope this helps

I've been pulled over by Texas state troopers for not having a front license plate. It was a warning, nothing more. I had Wyoming plates at the time.

You shouldn't get much grief, except possibly about the tint, in MS, AL, GA, or SC. That lifted Titan won't even stand out much in those states. Lifted trucks are a staple food item here in the southeast.

I see trucks like that all the time here in NC. The only thing that might be a problem for him is the tinted windows. NC doesn't allow heavy tinting.

I guess he just needs to keep the windows rolled down while driving. :D

My bro in law is headed to Fort Bragg in a few weeks, he had graduation the other day in GA as well.

Since its an 06 I would get the truck serviced and have them check the Fuel pump and make sure the fuel sending unit recall was done. If the recall wasn't done on it, and the fuel pump needs replacing that'll save you A TON of money on labor. Lots of pre 08's seem to lose their fuel pumps.

Some counties in NC have emissions testing, but if it's just a cat back I don't see why it would fail. Tint really depends on the officer's mood at the time. Lifted truck in the South? We probably have more on the road than cars. They won't even notice that it's lifted.
