Hello,

I recently replaced the stock speakers w/ the Rockford Fosgate Prime R1693 6-Inch x 9-Inch Full-Range 3-Way Speakers.

They do sound better than the stock, however, I have a couple of problems:

1. Right speaker is brighter/louder than left (Driver side). I can't remember if this was the case w/ the stock. It may be the way the design goes and the sitting position. Can someone confirm?

2. There is absolutely no bass on this. I could not go pass level 1 or 2 in the stocks. On these, I am all the way to level 5 and I cannot hear much bass. The net result is a very bright treble that gives me a splitting headache after a while. It looks like all the bass is coming from the rears, stock, which I did not replaced.

3. The wires that came w/ these speakers are hair thin as compared to the truck factory wires. I spliced the two together as best I could. Any issues w/ this wiring that would impact sound?

I would like to have at least the same level of bass as the stock speakers. I don't want to add a sub b/c they take up space. I really don't need the loud thumping of a sub, however, I was hoping for more than stock bass on these. Replacing the stock unit is out of the question as well.

Any ideas???

Mike
BTW, These don't fit perfectly. They stick out too much and you cannot lock the door clips that are in the periphery of the speaker.

Balance the Cd player from left to right and see if your bass response improves as you get closer to one side. If it does one speaker is out phase. WHich means just swap the positive and negative on one of the sepakers
