Well, I'd like to give y'all a little editorial on my experience with Royal Purple. I just hit 45,000 miles this week and was due for an oil change. I've been running Mobil 1 5W-30 Full Synthetic since 5,000 miles. I was at O'Reilly's buying some oil on Friday and decided to go with Royal Purple. And here are my results.

I heard before that you get more power, better mpg's, this and that. I figured it was all hype, but I might as well find out for myself for an extra $12. So I went and did the oil change. I'm not going to lie to y'all, the truck felt smoother after the oil change. I don't know if it was having the old oil in there (I change it every 5,000 miles with full synthetic every time), but I think that Royal Purple really made a difference.

The truck just felt all around smoother. And the butt dyno felt like it had a little more pep in it's step. It just all around felt good.

Another thing to mention was the gas mileage. I received a speeding ticket back in October and after being on differed disposition for it, I've been driving like a grandma. Always going the speed limit on the highway and getting about 14.9-15.3 mpg. Well, now that my differed period is over, I can speed again. And I was going anywhere from 65 to 85 for my ~90 mile drive back to school. I averaged 15.1mpg with my higher speed.

So, there's my 2 cents on Royal Purple. And if the benefits keep up, I'll be running it again when I change at 50,000 miles.

Fun Fact: The oil itself is actually purple. I did not know that until I started pouring it in.

I bought a case of RP gear oil back when it was cheap, now a case of 75/140 (12 x 1 QT) w/free shipping goes on Amazon for $174. Seems fine to me, always looks good when I drain it.
I was also recommended their Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF), but I remember hearing something about Nissan having warranty issues if you use anything besides their J-Matic fluid. Any truth to that?

I dunno about RP ATF, but I'm running Amsoil w/o problem.
Gotcha. Yeah, I'm not going to mess with anything like that until I run out of my warranty. I have the extended warranty to 100,000 miles and don't want to run into any issues with voiding that as far as the J-Matic is concerned. I'll probably be dropping the truck off next week to have the 45,000 mile service performed.

I always had very good used oil analysis with Royal Purple, It is what I use in my Diff right now. The only synthetic that gave me better UOA's was Pennzoil Platinum.

You should have no problems getting 10K+ miles out of your RP. Send Blackstone labs a sample and see how it holds up. You will be even more impressed.

oh, my all time favorite motor oil, which I have not used in the Titan yet is Redline Oil. I ran that crap out of that oil in my Twin turbo Z and it just kept performing. Best oil I have ever seen in that car. maybe I will try it in the Titan soon.

USN HM 350Z: The Redline stuff for rear diff is it the MT90? What are you planning on using? In the diff and transmission. I hope to change out diff and tranny this weekend. For that matter any advice guys?
Thanks In Advance.

I ran Amsoil in my 06 Titan when I did the tranny drain and fill, and I didn't have any issues.

Thanks for the report!

I love the Royal Purple gear oil. I use the 75w140 in the rear dif and 75w90 in the front dif. Every time I change my dif oil, the oil still looks and smells brand new. The stock gear oil looked like black and silver gravy with lots of shavings the first time I changed it at 40k. I haven't tried the RP motor oil, mainly due to the price (I use mobil 1), but I think I might give it a shot next oil change. I am very confident in the quality of Royal Purple products, so I guess it's time to give their motor oil a try.

Glad you've had good experiences with the gear oil as well. All this positive feedback is good. I'm not a believer in RP and will be recommending it to friends.

I suggest you try at the next oil change. I used to be a strictly Mobil 1 guy, but I honestly don't see myself going back after this. I had to make a quick pass today in traffic and the truck jumped from 35 to 50 damn near instantaneously. I'm a believer now!

Is it better to use other brands such as Royal Purple? The dealer told to use genuine Nissan oil only.
It's just a way for them to make money and to keep you coming in more often. Synthetic oil is better than conventional in every way. You get what you pay for.

Wow, great review etalian... I've always been a M1 user as well... M1 synth oil and filter... going to try the RP oil now as well... I throw in a bottle of Lucas Synthetic Oil Stabilizer in mine w/ 6 qts of oil, and change mine out roughly every 7.5k miles, 10k at the most... As for the diffs and tranny, I have not switched them out yet (just hit the 80k mark) and will be doing those as well... thinking I will go with RP for the diffs, and may just do the same for the tranny, if not the AmsOil... You'all think I can get Royal Purple to send me a complete front to rear package for use, evaluation, and promotion pitch??? ;)

Never changed the tranny or the diffs yet with 80,000? I had both diffs, tranny, and t-case changed at 30,000. I'd get on it if I were you!

What about high mileage oil? I’m a little over 100k on my Titan and have always just use regular oil. Does the high mileage oil make a difference or is it just another gimmick they try a sell suckers like me.
I honestly have no idea. I've never had a vehicle over 60,000 miles. But I'm gonna still say that synthetic is better than any conventional oil.
