I have the 2017 SV that does not have the lighted running boards. Question, is this a pre-wire item like the brake controller to where you can buy the led lights and install fairly easy or is there wiring to run?

The best price I've seen online is 253.98 plus shipping. (that's where they get you!) I looked over the installation instructions and it looks like the better part of an afternoon. The first time you get out of the truck at night and avoid stepping in dog poop will prove this to be a good investment.

I purchased this these 5 foot LED strips for $30. I got one set for the running boards and one for the truck bed. They are bright!

5 foot LED strip

I am not using their wiring harness/switch, I am tapping right into the cargo lights. So not only will they come on with unlocking/door opening, but I can switch them on with the cargo light switch to light up the ground and truck bed.

Install instructions for the OEM kit look more difficult than just tapping the cargo lights too. This kits fuse is a 3 amp, so I'm guessing the draw is low enough to not warrant running a power wire straight from the battery or using a relay, especially since all the other courtesy/cargo/interior lighting in my truck are LED's, the load on the system is already much lower over all than OEM.

I also like that I can mount this LED strip in such a way that it lights up the upper part of the running boards and the ground. You'll notice with the OEM kit that the top of the running board isn't illuminated.

I haven't done the install yet, so I don't have photo's.

If in fact they are pretty wired and the lights are just needed why not just buy some led rock lights.. not expensive at all

While at my dealer the other day I asked about adding the lights to my truck. They charged me $395 installed. The kit was $320 so the $70 for installation was well worth it imo.

I guess this would be considered a dead thread by now. I didn't get around to installing the running board lights and two weeks ago, I traded my '17 Titan in in a Tahoe. List on them is 320.00 but when I bought my truck, they offered me any accessories I wanted a employee price, so they were 264.95. I'm at 220.00. If anyone wants them at that price plus whatever shipping cost, they're yours. If no one wants them, I may try to figure out a way to make them work on my tahoe.

Just hardwired running board LED strip kit into my sons 17 Titan SV.
Access the red/green wire (+) and the blue wire (-) behind the right side front kick panel. Use the wires that have a connector attached going into the passenger front door. Has that cloth tape wrapped around it that you will have to remove. There are two I think. Check the white connector that is flatter and wider 1st. These wires are there to power lights under your mirrors. (Not blinkers). They are called mud lights. Not all models have them but wires are there. (like my sons SV)
Do not use the same color wires that are easier to access that go into the harness that runs down the R side of truck. You will know what I'm talking about when you get into it.
Your new LEds will light up when you unlock your doors and or open doors with your interior lights.
I've searched the web for days and found nothing. Finally got a copy of the service wiring diagram for the Interior lights from a friend.
Hope this helps!

Awesome write up...any chance you can post the Wiring Diagram?
