Last week my tranny went out on me, well 3rd,4th,and 5th.
Took it to the stealership and they said the clutches were burned out. Warranty guy came out and said they would replace it with a rebuilt one, he also said that there were some seals that needed to be replace, 2 going to the transfer case and 1 to the power steering pump. The seals are not covered under the warranty and told me if something happens to the truck and it was because of the seals that it would not be covered in the future.
My question is, would those seals cause my tranny or engine to fail? I know I need to monitor the fluid levels but can I get by in the meantime without have to do the seals? The stealership wants $1400 just to put the 3 seals in.:crying:
BTW, the truck has 92k miles on it.
Thanks
3 seals for $1400??? We will have brain surgeons quitting to become seal installers. If it is a third-party warranty, I would try to see if you can get $ and then use them at a tranny shop to install a performance rebuild kit from Level 10 or Alto along with a Transgo shift kit. Nissan dealer does not rebuild trannys, so it is rebuilt elsewhere and upcharged by the dealer, maybe 2 or 3x the actual price.
I think its humurous how idiotic that dealerships are today.. 'Yes, we want to sell more Titans. No, there wasn't any issues that weren't addressed and buyers helped out. Yes, we will charge you out the arse for parts and services that should be covered under warranty.' I thought only my local Ford dealership did this. Now we know why the Titan is getting discontinued.
