SE Vs. LE

I would like to hear from SE and LE owners about their trucks and if they feel like they made the right trim level selection. I have an SE crew on order but sometimes I feel like maybe I should go with the LE for the durability and ease of cleaning of the leather seats, heated seats, driver memory system, and the upgraded radio. But... then I think, maybe the SE would be sufficient and it is about $1,500 cheaper. So LE and SE owners let me know what you think, LE owners do you wish you had gotten the SE instead? Or SE owners, do you wish you had sprung for the LE? Thanks in advance.

I have the SE.

Why:

1. My wife has the LE maxima. If I wanted luxury I would have gone in that vehicle.
2. Dogs chew leather.
3. If I am going to get the seats overly dirty, I will use the seat covers.
4. Dogs chew leather.
5. The truck gets hot enough, seat heaters are nice but that truck gets hot
6. Dogs chew leather.
7. Drivers memory is great in wife's Maxima. Lack of it keeps her out of my truck
8. Dogs chew leather.
9. Cloth seats are a neoprene like material and clean easy almost more so than leather.
10. Have you figured out the pattern yet?

SE = 6 seatbelts

SE = 6 seatbelts. it's terrific. :cheers:

if we didn't need the 6th seat then the LE would have been the choice:
our son's in the high school mt. bike racing team...so i guess I'm a "biker dad"
our two dogs might just 'snack' on the LE leather seats.

A loaded LE is still less $ then any of the nicely equipped "Big Two plus Three" (GM, Ford plus DaimerChrysler, Nissan, Toyota) full size pickups.
SE CC with Pop package and Captains chairs.... On order.

I have the LE. Why? So much for so little..

I started out looking at the SE and realized that for a little price I get all the LE goodies. This is a commute rocket for me and I like the comfort. Also my dogs have to ride in the mini-van.

We chose the SE. The wifes pathfinder had the LE pkg with all the doodads. She really didn't care for the leather but she does miss the sunroof. OTher than that, the SE with the pkgs we got were everything we were looking for.

LE for me

I'm with Tony, I couldn't pass up all the extras. I use this as a commuter and weekend hauler. We have a Toyota Sequoia for the family, and I have a CBR1100xx for my high speed enjoyment... Besides, by the time I added in the things "I had to have" on an SE, it was pretty much an LE without name plate.

for such a small difference in price the LE was my choice. Very durable, comfortable leather seats with memory and heaters, standard utilitrac bed, RF radio, center console, 18" wheels, homelink, plus a boat load of other standard goodies. It just depends on how much room you need (5 vs. 6) and if you like leather or not.
I like leather in my vehicles so LE was the way to go for me. I could have got the SE but once I add the options that I wanted it was almost the same price as an LE. In Canada the LE comes with everything except DVD/Sunroof and Nav system. All I had to do was go with the LE and all the options I was looking for were already included.

Can't wait for it to come in.

Well, I don't have neither. :dunno:
Are you still waiting?
I would have gotten the LE if:

I didn't have to wait.
It comes with bench front seat.
They don't load the LE with all the extra stuff I don't want: tow (and why on earth I have to get tow to get side airbag),off road, dvd,and nag.

I am happy with the SE The only thing is I still wonder is how much better the seating position of the captain chair compared the the bench. I like to have the seat tilt up a litte so my legs feel more relax but I can't have that with the SE bench seat.

That all depends what's out there when I'm ready for a new truck. I still have my tundra.
Here's why I bought the tundra. In the summer of 99 I was in the market for a truck, heard toyota was gonna have a 1/2ton. I waited till it was release. I read magazines for info and specs. I test drove all 4 of them. The ram was the 1st off my list. Didn't have enough umph to move it's own weight, didn't like the interior that much and noisy. The f150 was next. It ran out of breath once it reached higher rpms, the seats just isn't for me. The sierra and tundra both accellerated almost identical with the sierra having a slight jump at first then steady all the way to red line while the tundra had a softer jump then continues to pull harder and harder, feels kinda like a turbo kicking in. I came very close to buying the sierra but the steering wheel was not centered with the driver. At the end it came down to the tundra. Also at the time the tundra was released it was the quickest of the bunch, a big plus in my book. If I gotta get going, it better be going. I like power and that is a big determaining factor for me when buying a truck.
This is kinda why I'm here on a titan sight, to get to know the truck for future knowledge.

I bought the SE for a few reasons:
1. I don't like leather and heated seats in Florida seems sort of like overkill.
2. I didn't want the utility bed. I take my boat into salt water quite often and didn't trust the combination of salt and the aluminum rails. I would have had no problem if they had been stainless or a polymer material. I've talked to a couple of people who have already had their cleats stolen out of the truck.
3. Don't really need the RF but it wouldn't have been a nogo.
4. Don't like the looks of the external storage compartment.
5. LE costs almost $5000 dollars more.
Hey amati5 I don't have the power seats neither, so what I did was put some spacers in the front and back of the seats where they mount to the floor, more in the front where it does have a slight lean, and overall about 4" higher. The view is much better when you sit a little higher. I have the se package with the 60/40 bench seat with the transmission shifter on the column, I test drove one with the transmission with the shifter on the floor and thought that is what I wanted, but after one day driving it I found it was more of a inconvenience going through the entire shift pattern from drive to park, just my opinion, as far as leather I would rather the cloth. freeze your *** in the winter and burn it in the summer !!!!!!!
I'm sold on leather. I don't agree with the hot/cold arguments. It's easy to clean, lasts forever and after 10 years you still have a good surface instead of feeling like you're sitting on an old, dirty sofa. You can get leather aftermarket on the bench seat for $1000. The bench (available in the SE) does give you the feel of more room in the front, but there's no power seats.
For me I started at an XE, and moved to an SE because I liked the SUV look and feel of having the captains chairs.

I had leather in the last car, and didn't think I needed it for a truck. The main LE function I would have liked was a sunroof, but you need to buy every option to get that, so I went without.

I talked with the dealer, and they think the Rockford Fosgate is expensive and not worth the upgrade. My non-Rockford is plenty loud.

Hey Don, thanks for the tip. I was driving this morning and was just thinking about what you just did, too. I was afraid the bolts weren't long enough for spacers. I'll put more spacers (or thicker) in the front so the whole seat will tilt up at the front to support my legs. I have 3 kids so the bench seat really helps when we have to give someone a ride.

Thx again.
I had to get some longer bolts at the nearby hardware store , worked like a charm, I hope I provided some assistance to ya, enjoy the ride !!!!!
I went with the SE instead of the LE because it's a TRUCK. :) I had an '02 Pathfinder LE I traded in on the Titan. It had the bells and whistles of the LE Titan. Auto lights (I hated, and never used in the Pathfinder). I never got past the "seeing my lights still on when I walked inside the house" thing. It had the sunroof, which 95% of the time I kept the visor closed on. It had leather, which, true enough was nice, but I don't need in a truck. I also like the column shifter I have in my Titan. Having the OPTION to carry a third passenger up front is nice. And, if nothing else, the ability to sit something on the seat right next to me is convenient. The open floor space instead of the shifter is just nice... Rear sonar? Why would I need that? :rollingey There's just nothing in the LE that I don't have in my SE that doesn't scream "I bought a truck just to have a truck, but I'll NEVER use it like it's built to be used." :)
