The 2006 Nissan Titan is at a car dealership and they are selling it for a good price and it has low mileage. The only problem is the tire sensor light is on in the truck. The dealership said that they replace the original nissan valve stem with regular valve stem and that's why the light is on MB Star Compact C4. They said they will not replace it with a nissan valve stem and they lowed the price of the truck some more. Would you buy this truck and why?

I know how to use a tire pressure gauge and got a long just fine for a long time with out TPS sensors, so yeah, that wouldn't stop me if the price was right.

Worst case is your customer buys new TPMS sensors. About 200 bucks installed and synced at Discount Tires.

You know how you can tell when a dealer salesperson is lying? They move their lips!

If the valve stem is rubber, then yes, it isn't original. TPMS sensor stems are metal as this functions as the antenna for the unit. I guess if you really want to check, you could pull the tire off to see if the sensor is there.

Well you could force them to put new ones in, it is actually ILLEGAL to pull TPMS sensors out of any vehicle that came with it, and the fact they told you they did it, puts the ball in your court.

lol!

Especially a complicated thing like a TPMS sensor haha. The battery on the transmitter probably went out or the tires are larger/smaller than stock and the system is saying they are over/under inflated. Get it re-flashed at a service center.

The Nissan OEM valve stems may be metal but some aftermarket ones are not. The sensors I recently had installed by Discount Tire are rubber.

OP: Bottom line? If the rest of the truck checks out OK I see no reason for the TPMS warning light to be a negative factor, especially given that they lowered the price.

I traded wheels with a guy, and got his 20s, but he had no sensors. No biggie, just an annoying a** light that blinks when you start the teuck and then just stays on and you forget about it, until you start the truck again and itblinksfor a bit. No worries

I you are saying a 'Dealership' is dropping the price because of a TPS sensor, which would cost them what $75 tops, I personally would run like h3ll because something is just wrong. Dealerships don't drop prices just because, that is unless it was well over-priced to begin with of course... Just my 2 cents, good luck.

If the prior owner pulled all four sensors then it's more than just $75.

Agreed - just going by the post where he stated the Dealer replaced a valve stem..... not valve stems.

I work for Big O. Most of our replacements are rubber unless specified. The metal stem ones are available but cost more and have issues with cross metal corrosion. A quick scan will reveal if there is indeed a sensor there if it matters. If that is indeed the only issue I would jump on it if it were discounted
