Hello this is my 1st time posting on any type of forum.I have a 2008 Titan SE king cab 4wd long bed 173000 miles. Recently it started to shutter when braking only at 20mph. At the recommendation of Bridgestone I replaced the front rotors and pads. The issue has not been fixed. Two things happened within two days after a long trip the shutter began and the next day the shift cable broke at the column which has been replaced. There is no shaking at the steering wheel I can feel throughout the whole truck. Feels like rear to me. Bridgestone said the u joints feel ok the only issue they saw was the center bearing may be a little loose. Any help would be awesome

Did they check the rear brakes, including the parking brake shoes? p-brakes are a known problem area, and the shoes can delaminate causing multiple issues.

If the center bearing is "loose," it's time to replace. Check the transmission mount, too.

Hope that helps.

When dealing with a shop technician that offers parts replacement without a diagnoses that they can describe to you. or better yet, show you...get your keys and go somewhere else. Every problem has a diagnosis/troubleshooting decision tree that isolates the issue....when you get responses of 'it could be this or maybe it could be this other thing', no one has done the work to solve your problem. Unless your brakes were shot based on measurements of pad thickness, rotor run out, rotor thickness etc., then you should not be paying for a brake job. It wasn't your problem.

The bearing is an easy test, but in my experience, when failed, it's related to more speed and you feel it in your butt. If your low speed shudder isn't moving the steering wheel, it's not in your front end. You could be experiencing any number of causes, including a shifted belt on a tire, a damaged rim, to a broken tranny mount. Go find a mechanic that actually does what you pay them for. Clearly something is broken, it shouldn't be an easter egg hunt to find it.

Shuddering at 45 mph

Hey guys I'm new to posting anything on a forum so bear with me a little bit. I've got a 2011 pro 4x crew and within the last 8 months it's started shuddering at 45. Smooth till then and smooth after I reach 50. What's strange is sometimes are worse than others. like you can barely feel it and then it feels like I'm being launched to mars. Also I checked the driveshafts both are not bent and I replaced the u joints on both of them. Didn't even touch the problem. One last thing is when I have weight in the truck either when carrying five people or 500 +pounds the shuddering doesn't happen. Scratching my head here guys.

Get your tires balanced. You probably threw a weight.
That's where I would start as well. I've had Miatas for years and they are well known for having a 30/60/90 mph shudder if the wheels aren't perfectly balanced. You get a specific set of harmonics going at a certain speed.

2004 Nissan Titan King Cab LE. When my carrier bearing started to fail, it seemed to occur and shudder when sitting on a small incline waiting to pick-up the kids at school, or when letting off the throttle, and sometimes accelerating hard. It took a long time before symptoms reoccurred consistently or when trying to reproduce it, over a year or two. You have to be at just the right incline to stress the system. It shuddered the whole truck and was kind of unmistakable as any kind of brake issue. Possible transmission or driveshaft maybe idler pulley, but not brakes. I am sure it could be confused, if you happen to brake when it occurs, but the event is pretty exciting, so with that adrenaline pumping, pay close attention next time, to eliminate that as a cause.

Tire Belt Elimination
I recently thought the wife wrecked my other car and didn't tell me, It seemed like CV axle, but when I jacked it up, and put in gear, whole wheel was wobbly and looked like a bent rim. With the tire off I could easily see an internal belt had broke and the tire was almost bubbled out, that wasn't noticed when parked. With resonance it was worse certain speeds, but was always there and a consistent problem every-time I drove it.

Happy Troubleshooting
