I had to order my SE crew cab to get side / rollover roof airbags....I also had to order the big tow, off-road, utility bed, and SE popular with power captain to get the side airbag package. I would have also purchased these packages but can undertsand why a budget minded person would not want the tied-in extras to get the side airbag package. Safety is important to me as I am sure it is to others. Nissan made a greedy choice by tying a relatively affordable safety feature to other option packages to pump up their profits. I had to order my truck because the only Titans on the lots with the side airbag package are the fully loaded $45,000 LE models. Way out of my price range, money talks I guess but wrongful death and injury lawsuits are expensive to auto makers as well.

No, I did not pay MSRP, I refused to. I shopped around and I paid about 700 over invoice, best deal I could find at one of eight dealers in southern New England that I contacted.
Side / roof airbags are worth the piece of mind, I don't want to trust my or anyone else's safety to a half inch thick roof or a four or five inch thick door, and glass window.

Just noticed I ignored your other two questions... I ordered a black SE crew cab 4x4.

Sorry about the mistake, the fully loaded (every option) LE 4x4's are around 41,000 and change. Still out of my price range, but I am sure you got my point.

I already posted this in another thread but it applies to this thread as well.
In the middle of January I had made arrangements with a dealer to order an SE crew cab, the order was to be submitted this week with their February vehicle orders. Yesterday I contacted the dealer and asked if I would be able to change my order to an LE crew cab. The dealer told me that the SE had not been ordered yet but would be this week, and that if I wanted to change the order to an LE I would have to come down and sign a new purchase and sale agreement. The dealer also agreed to sell me the LE for $771.00 over invoice price which is the same as what I was paying over invoice if I purchased the SE.

Today I drive over an hour to the dealer to sign the new purchase and sale agreement and I am told "sorry there is a problem". The main problem I am told is that I want the side airbag package. In addition to the side airbag package I also want the big tow package, off-road package and the sliding bed extender. The dealer tells me that the side airbags are the main sticking point because usually the only Titans built with the side airbags are the trucks with the DVD, navigation, sunroof, ect. Options that I don't want or need and can't afford. The dealer tells me that if they were to order my truck the way that I want it that there would be a very good chance that Nissan would also add in one or more of the previously mentioned expensive options at the factory that I do not want and there would be nothing anyone could do about it. The dealer makes no effort to get me to order a truck with those expensive options and hands me a refund check for my $2000.00 deposit without me even asking for it. I walk out of the dealer completely baffled and very angry. I know the Titan crew cab LE can be ordered in the configuration that I chose. I have done my homework and understand that some option packages are tied together. My chosen configuration meets those requirements.

1. So why then is the dealer backing out of the order?

2. Would Nissan really make changes to my order such as throwing in DVD and navigation at the factory even though I don't want them?

I would greatly appreciate any advice or information especially from Nissan dealers on this board.
