I need help. I installed a Sirius receiver to my RF HU. The reception really suck. I hear you can get better reception with an XM antenna; also, could someone give me some breif info on how to run it through the brake light on the roof. I currently have the antenna on the front driver side roof. I have a 06 CC LE. :teethmast

Are you using the AUX input to the radio? I did pm you for the ant. My sirius reception is great on my truck from where the ant is installed.

I have the starmate 4 running in to my aux port on my HU. The sound quality is excellent. Although I have read many posts about poor reception and people switching to the XM antenna, my experience has been the opposite. I use the regular Sirius antenna included with the car kit. I usually have 5 bars (full strength). You have to remember the satellite signal is line of sight, just like a dish at your house. If you block that line of sight with something solid you will lose signal. That will happen no matter what service or equipment you use. It's the nature of the beast. If you use the FM modulator to get signal to your head unit what you interpret as poor satellite signal may actually be FM interference. I had this problem and it went away when I started using the aux input. I am sure you can get it worked out.

I have it hard wired to the back of the AUX. The reception is ALRIGHT; I switched from XM to Sirius. The XM seems to get better reception. I have three bars most of the time; however, the least thing seems to block the signal. The problem was not near as bad with XM. (got tired of the sub-par programming & commercials) Just trying to see if there were any solutions.

FireCapt103 linked a word doc that tells you how to wire it. You dont have to mount it on the actual light like he did, I followed his directions and mounted it on paint like normal.

You can also run one of these for audio inputs.

Through the stock SAT plug which is under the drivers side by your pedals. This will let you use a Y-cable from the Sat radio into RCAs hidden behind your dash, this keeps your stock AUX plug free.

Thanks, I am @ work and did not check my PM. I'm gonna keep my sirius antenna and run it thought the roof. Thanks everyone for the info. I'll put to use when I get off work.
Thanks again to everyone for the info. The detailed info made the install go smooth. Installing the antenna on the roof made a big difference. Went for a test drive in some wooded areas and the reception didn't go out near as much.
