Hey, weren't you having the same issue as me?? Would you get a thud putting oyur foot on the accelerator and taking it off under normal driving? After the truck warmed up?? Looks good man, now quit being gay and get it to the track

#11 ·
yea i am but i wont find out the cure until i put her back in the truck :) ull be one of the first to know if it worked :) (keep ur fingers crossed)

#13 ·
Did you just up the stall, because of cams, or did the TC require a tear down anyway? Was it shuddering at all?

#18 ·
one time i felt a shudder from the tranny while i was going to the track. never knew the problem but i think it was the clutches. i wanted to open the converter up just to be safe and see if everything looked in good shape. plus bumping the stall up a little bit more will help me get going sooner with the cams :)

the stall converter works great no problem with it whatsoever!!!:) the only downside is that she threw 2 codes P0720 and P1574. i think it has to do with the valvebody i should have taken her apart to clean her up. might have some buildup in there causing her to act up.

Wow codes no good... and you just got it back together.. .something is not right my friend.

#25 ·
Not to thread jack but are you still running the SC 93 tune with your headers? How is your AFR with that?

#28 · (Edited)
I would say you're going to spend atleast a $1000 from the dealer unless you can find a used RE5RO5A and pull the valvebody out of it... but Geez...thats some big cash too.

Or... You could try IPT,GTM, and Level 10. They are the only ones who do modifications to the Valve bodies aside from just installing the Transgo kit, you could call them and send them your valvebody and they could fix whatever is wrong and make it better by doing their "upgrade". Your truck is going to be down for a few though...hope you have second vehicle or rental car.

Other than that I dunno man, best of luck to you though. I'm sure someone else has an idea...

By the way, when my friend and I were installing my Transgo kit, as soon as I started the vehicle and drove home, it started leaking fluid from the trans pan and the Manual shift didn't work.

Come to find out some of the Valvebody wiring had got pinched between the trans pan and the casing itself.

Had to beat the dent out of the pan to stop leak and the Manual shift function started working again after a quick splice and reconnect. Been working ever since.

I just thought maybe it could be something unplugged or a wire pinched/cut somewhere on accident..

I dunno I could be wrong though in your situation...

im thinking its the harness itself or a bad solenoid. i got rid of the p1574 code but i still have the damn p0720 lingering around :( stall still works amazing :D

#33 ·
LOL...^^^^^ Good luck BJ, I'm sure it's nothing more than wiring.

#34 ·
Who did the converter? What stall is it? I want one in the 3000-3200 range in a tight stall and a STR of around 2.0 or so.

#35 ·
How much difference does the 3200 stall give over stock, as far as street driving and launching... that is if you have been able to do that with your codes and valvebody issue.

What is out stock stall rated at?

I was thinking of going with a 3200 stall and some 3.73 gears before I do the cams and UPREV, since the stall and gears are a bit cheaper.

#36 · (Edited)
if you do gear swap youll be hitting rev limiter without proper tuning imo. my stock stall was rated @ 2500-2700 im around 3200-3400 :) street driving i have to give her a lil more gas but since the cams help out i get to the speed i want to faster than before :) i havent stomped on it from a dig yet i want to get rid of that code first.

That torque converter sounds like a good purchase.

I was wondering about the 3.73s and rev limiter situation. I went from the factory 2.94 to 3.36 big tow gears when I got my complete 07 rear end with a tru trac installed. And it shfits at the same RPMS as it did stock, just a lot harder and quicker due to the Transgo kit.

The tuning you were talking about, just curious, what would be the cause of me hitting the rev limiter with 3.73s over the 3.36s I have now?

Wouldn't the TCU recognize the need to shift at the same RPMS from the factory even with the 3.73s?

lol i'm a little slow tonight...:crying:
