Did they check the fluid level?

 

That is pretty weird..only thing I could think of, is possible electrical problem. Do you go offroading a lot? I was putting my front drive shaft in last night, and noticed there were a lot of wires and plugs in the tranny/transfercase area. Could have been a loose connection of some sort?

 

The dealership said they did a whole diagnostic check and nothing came up, they also took it for another longer test drive and nothing...I mean could this have been a fluke computer issue? The fluid level was fine. I can't afford a new tranny for god knows how much...

 

I don't do any off-roading at all, and I really don't beat on it at all either.

 

Wonder if it went into limp mode for some reason?

 

Hate to bring their capabilities into question, but I have seen some dealer techs who would have trouble diagnosing a flat tire.
Plugging in the OBDII scanner might not reveal a low fluid condition, which probably wouldn't set a code.
Do you know if they checked it?

 

I don't know for sure, i'll check myself tonight if I pick it up. I was just so mad this morning it was like someone punched me in the gut. What would force the tranny to put itself in safe or limp mode?

 

what year is your titan? 08+ years don't have a trans dipstick to check the level it is a sealed unit.

 

I happen to have a 2008 SE 2wd BT KC (not a 2008.5) and it does have a dipstick. So some of them did have transmission dipsticks.

 

Its a 2004 with 78k miles on it. I'm completely baffled and still waiting for the second phone call from the dealer.

 

have you had the fluid changed? 60k is the norm, unless you tow or race. I was at the track and the other guy took too long to stage and went in to limp mode from over heating the trans

 

my 08 doesn't have one

 

Change the fluid now.
