Well it's been a rough week to say the least. While returning on our family trip from South Dakota to Texas we hit a deer. At around 10:30 at night my wife was driving the first leg of our trip through "The middle of no where" Kansas at the posted speed limit of 60 MPH when a 8 point buck decided to run in front of the Titan. This was the half way point and I had my two kids with us. Before we started driving I told my wife that if we were on a two lane road and a deer ran in front of us to drive straight and brake a hard as possible to overt a roll-over, and thats what she did. Unfortunatly, the deer was not quick enough.
After gathering a few large pieces from the road we continued to Dodge City and got a room since there was a pretty good leak from the radiator. The next day I decided to try to continue to drive. We were able to drive about 25 miles before we would have to fill the resevoir. This worked OK until the Texas/New Mexico boarder when it would only take us 5-6 miles, and we ran out of water and were stranded on the side of the road. After a half an hour a great American stopped and shuttled us water to get us to the next major town.
I decided to take a better look and tried to patch the radiator with JB Weld and it worked! We continued home and arrived later that night. I'm just glad that everyone was ok and that the damage wasn't so bad that we couldn't continue on. I really don't know what I would have done in that situation.
The Titan is now in the shop and I'll send the before and after when she's done.

I figured someone would ask! I left it there... In the heat of the situation I was concerned about getting home and calming the kids. In hind sight It would have been nice to take home, my wife and I joked about mounting him and using it as a punching bag.

You could have cut the beatting heart out of the deer and showed it to the kids while yelling, "SEE THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU MAKE DADDY MAD!", Sure they would need some counseling, but you would have a quiet ride home, well other than the gently sobs from the back seat. LOL Glad you and everyone are OK, the truck can be fixed.

On the rare occasion that I agree with somebody's wife I think that, Yes - you should have brought it home and mounted it. Could've been good dart practice.

Great upfront thinking and advice. Reminds of when I was teaching my son to drive and we were barreling down the highway at 70 MPH for the first time. I advised him that no matter what, he was not to drive off the side of the road. Glad everyone is OK.

Man that damage looks bad. I don't hunt so I have no idea how large an 8point size Rudolf is but I'm glad to hear that nobody got hurt.

Did your airbags deploy? Now might also be a good time to do some upgrades to that front end while it's in the shop. If you like OEM, get the 2008 headlights. Get an upgraded grill if you want while you're at it too. And if the hood is damaged, you may want to look into some new/lighter hoods.

It sucks when you go hunting for that deer they are nowhere in sight. Driving down the road they are everywhere.

Definitely glad everyone is okay. It really is amazing how solid a deer is and the kind of damage they can do to vehicle. Just unreal.
