Here's some sounds of the sonic ferociousness of air being sucked up by the Volant and spit out by the Gibson Extremes...sound is in cabin w/ windows rolled up...really when you get on it it reminds me of the sound and feeling of being in a jet going down the runway at takeoff...Of course this isn't going to emulate that for you but you just have to be there... :teethmast

I personally like the half throttle zip the best...

Yeah......you are.......but at least you have lots of company!

My Volant should be here this week....can't wait! Finn, did you get the ram air kit with yours? I'm still debating....since it's another $125. But at 5400', this engine needs every extra gulp of air I can give it!

Thanks for the sound clips. I know what you mean by having to "be there" to appreciate the sound. I used an Iriver hp100 hard disc recorder for clips of my Aero-Turbine exhaust, and even that doesn't do the sound justice.

So, what's next?

Will you please let me know when you have rec'd the RAM Air scoop? I want to know if they have changed the design since I got mine several months ago. I am curious if the new one will actually STAY ON the truck. That would be a nice feature.
I had to get a little creative in mounting it to the front bumper and used a air ratchet on the clamp that holds the back of the tube up to get the clamp cinched all the way tight (hand tool wasn't gettin' the job done).

Decent, you seem really ready like I was to slap it on...you wont be disappointed as long as your "nuts" like me :jester:

I didn't order the ram air as I'm still debating whether it's worth it or not.
I'm waiting to see as well what's going to happen about the reported fitment issues. Def let us know. Like you say you prob need everything you can do to help it breath better in the high country.

I'm holding out for a chip or power programmer next.

I need to listen to those sound bytes of yours...

IF I do get the Ram Scoop I'll let you know. I'm hoping they've changed the design for the XE after reading some of your posts. For $125, there should not be major fitment issues like you and others have experienced.

Does Joe have a different email other than joe@volantperformance.com? I tried emailing him today, but it just gets returned. Does he respond to PM's? I'm trying to find out about the Ram scoop design, as well as find out about changes Joe had mentioned in a post about eliminating the take-off for the ram on the airbox and thus requiring a hole to be cut out or punched out. Why wouldn't they leave the take-off and just include a cap?? I'm also worried about my volant not being the latest revision after reading a recent post about someone receiving the older rev. Guess I'll find out this week, hopefully.

Thanks,
Steve

I received an email from Joe last week in which he stated that the mold for the SE/LE ram air scoop had been completed. He also said that caps for the air box port are now in.

I sent him an email on Friday and it went through without being returned as undeliverable.

I expect that I will hear from him sometime this week, and I'll let you know when I do.
