For the newly caught speeders, and those of us soon to be, do any of you use radar detectors? If so what brand and would you recommend it? Or are they a waste of $$$? oke:
Good info. They told me that the range on the Solo 2 wasn't as good as the 8500 too. I asked how much was the difference and they said most people wouldn't notice. I got my Solo for $130 vs $330 for a new one......it alerts me better than my Escort 4600 (got 2 tickets and said "enough is enough" with the old technology). However, if the 8500 is that much better, I'll get one of those and give the Solo2 to the girlfriend.....so far mine hasn't been a problem and has saved my a$$ many, many, many times and my wallet, which sits on said a$$, saved $200. Jeez, there is so much saving goin' on 'round here!dickyn said:I had the solo 2 before the 8500 and had a few problems of being right up to the cop before it went off. I called passport up and asked them about it and they told that because its cordless the range in much shorter than the 8500. I said that I can hardwire it into the car then, and they told me it wouldn't make a difference because the circuitry would break it down to the same voltage. They advise me to get the 8500.
