I've got a pair of the CCFL spyder lights, bought a package deal with HIDs off ebay for around $215 shipped.
This isn't meant to be a negative post because I've been happy with them up until 2 weeks ago, and I may be at fault here.
They've been installed for about 6 weeks now. I wired the Halos and LEDs to come on with parking lights. All connections were made using taps or heatshrinked butt splicers that could be crimped. Then I went back and heatwrapped all connections (taps and even the heatshrink splicers which I already activated the heatshrink). Then I wrapped all connections with electric tape. I was able to mount the HID and LED modules on the bottom of the headlight itself using extra strength exterior double sided tape, and all the wires were tucked into the nooks and crannies on the backside of the light. Essentially I wanted to make headlight removal just as easy as OEM, just one wire to unplug from the harness to remove the headlight. Worked out great.
I removed my Nismo intake 2 weeks ago and had to remove the wheel well liner to simplify the process. I left it out because I ran out of time and a few days after that we had a snow storm. Took the truck out for some fun and the next night when I turned on headlights in the garage I noticed drivers side was dark. Got out and checked and the headlight and one halo weren't working. There was a TON of moisutre inside the headlight, I could see visible water beads. I was pissed and then saw the wheel well liner sitting and there and started kicking myself in the ***. When I looked at the back of the headlight casing I could see it was pretty dirty. Not like caked up but you could see streaks of crap on it.
My headlight started working again the next day, the moisture went away after a few days of leaving it outside and 40* temps but one of the Halos still isn't working. I want to take it all apart and make sure connections are good but won't have the time for a bit and I trust my work.
I want to say it was coincidence that I had problems with the headlight while the wheel well liner was out but I'm leaning towards it being the wheel well liner since I haven't had probs on the passenger side. One thing I did notice on both headlights, was when they were installed there is a 1/4 inch gap on the side of where the light and fender meet. You can see a good part of the black headlight gasket. I did one light at a time so when I saw that I looked at the OEM that was still installed on other side and it was tight, no gap anywhere. I took pics of that and everything else from wiring to install because I wanted to do a how-to and review after I had them on a few weeks.
Other then this I like the headlights. They look good, the ccfl halos are bright as sh1t (minus the one not working) and the HIDs that came with them looked like a great quality kit compared to others I looked at (judging by the harness and connections and module itself).
Has anyone else ever had a moisture prob in their OEM or aftermarket headlights from leaving their wheel liner out?
