I have searched through the posts (for as long as one should) and I cannot find an answer. So, here goes. 2012 Nissan Titan SV, 53K miles. Had new wheels installed two weeks ago (10 days before the squeaking began).
I have an intermittent squeaking going on and it sounds like it is coming from the front wheel area. It is NOT in sync with tire rotation speed and after I reach 30 miles an hour (or so) I cannot hear it anymore. Also, it is very intermittent.
Began to notice the squeaking on Sunday, so I took my truck to the dealer on Monday, even though it was not squeaking on Monday. Dealer could not replicate the noise with a road test (three road tests actually) and they also checked with a listening device (forget them name) on both axles, both sides, with no faulty indications. BTW, the wheel hub assemblies checked out good.
I did not hear any squeaking again until this morning (Wednesday), no squeaking Monday or Tuesday. Leaving work this afternoon it was still squeaking. Went straight to the dealer and it would not squeak during the test drive (I was driving during the test drive). So frustrating.
It is not constant, as you can tell if you have read this far. Picture this, drive by some crickets, then no crickets for 20 to 30 seconds, then crickets again... and so on, then no crickets for a day, then crickets again (I think you get the idea here).
It is a high pitched squeak, not a grinding or howling. It actually sounds like a very loud cricket. Sometimes is squeaks for a few seconds, sometimes 1 squeak only. It does not appear to be bump related, as it happens on a smooth ride as well.
Going to call the place that installed the wheels in the morning to see if they will pull them off and take a look around. If it is not new wheel related, I am stumped. Hopefully someone here can point me in the right direction.
