so I'm in the middle of starter replacement. I've read how difficult the starter bolts are to get off, now I know 1st hand. I dropped my ratchet down on top of the trans and cant reach it, trying to use my backup ratchet to get them off to no avail!

can someone tell me the combo of breaker bar/ swivels/ hammers they used to get them? pics would help.

I’ll be doing this job before too long as well. From what I’ve seen, some say it’s easiest to use a bunch of extensions and a universal joint to get the bolts from the bottom of the truck.

to close this one out, i soaked the bolts the night before with PB blaster, and got a 3/8 ratchet with about 12" handle and a swivle head. i used that in combo with a 12" cheater bar. the swivel head on the ratched made it easy to get the clearance for about a foot and a half of leverage. the bolts were VERY tight, but i got them.
