Whats a reasonable repair cost on a starter replacement? $500-$600

Are you absolutely sure it's the starter? I ask because I think you'd be the first I've heard of to have an issue with it.
A new starter is around $250 from courtesyparts.com and you have to drain coolant from the block & throttle body and remove intake manifold to get to the starter.

Sounds like kind of a PITA, fortunately they rarely fail.

Thats what my Mechanic said. I had to have it towed in because it would not do anything but click when I tried to start it. And he told me the same thing as bestatchess said about the repair....anyway it cost me $508...Just wondering if that was a good price.
