Starting to get ANNOYED

1237 Views 11 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  novak57
Bought my truck used 3 months ago at 16,300 miles.

I currently have 20,300 miles and so far the truck has been in the shop for

a clunk from the rear, first time they said nothing was wrong, second time I got a drive shaft, now they are replacing the rear...been in the shop over 17 days total since I've owned it...

A few misc other problems, this is just getting to be annoying. I'm wasting a ****load of time taking it to the dealer, getting a rental (they are paying for), picking it up, taking it back, another rental, etc.... This is the 4th time they've given me a rental. I figure I've spent over 9 hours just going up there and back to drop it off....

His profile states 2005 LE
I had my rear end replaced as well. I have an 04 and I think they started making a new style for the 06s and up. I think the modiifcations are voluntary or when the customer has a problem. The dealer should have replaced it when they replaced the drive shaft. Another thing to look or listen for...brake problems (probably were taken care of earlier). Ask the service manager if he can pull a report on the vehicle service history.
I hope your getting annoyed for the right reasons. If you bought this used did you do a carfax or similar search to check the trucks history? How thorough was your test drive and how soon after the purchase did the problems start? You also can't be sure how the previous owner treated the truck. Granted that is not a lot of mileage, but people can do some strange and scary stuff with a vehicle. Your dealer may be a little lack luster in the diagnosis and repair department. Did you get it from a Nissan dealer? And then of course there is the scariest of thoughts, did someone buy a lemon and dump it quick? Even then, every manufacturer has them and every vehicle purchase used or new from any manufacturer is a crap shoot. If this is several attempts to fix the same problem, you need to find a way to have someone else try to figure out what is wrong. If this is several different problems you need to take a serious look at sending this truck down the road.
I wish you the best and please keep us informed how things work out.

I did a carfax, came back with nothing, and I did look at the service history of the vehicle, just reg. maintanince and the brake fix.

I bought it used from Sheehy Nissan in Glen Burnie, MD. It was a "certifield used vehicle" and during my 15 minute test drive the truck ran flawlessly. I noticed the clunking after about 2 weeks and other Misc stuff after that. It's nothing serious, just a bunch of really stupid things happening. I have a 7 year 100,000 miles warranty so it's pretty much covered, just inconvenient to get there to get things fixed.

AND get this, I got a loaner from Enterprise. (My dealership teamed up with Enterprise for rentals on warranty work), Enterprise could give me a titan since thats what I own but they didn't have any, they COULDN'T give me the pathfinder because I'm only 24 so I've been pimping a Nissan Quest Minivan for 3 days.
If it's anything like me Titan experience get used to it!! I spent more time driving back and forth to the dealer 30 miles away than I'd like to admit. I owned the truck only 13 months and decided that was enough! Could have just been the bad luck as I know every model has them, but I'd never buy another Titan. On another note we also have a new Pathfinder and it's been fantastic. 13 months and not one issue. Good luck with hope the dealer will correct the problem and you'll be fine.
Had an 88 Pathfinder and it was the toughest vehicle I ever had. I was 23 and had no money (none to keep it maintained either). It ran and ran.
I really like my Titan though I've had a few problems. Hell, I've had problems with alll vehicles at one point or another.

Now that's funny...

The rear is a biggy, not much bigger to go wrong after that's replaced...

Do you think I got the exact stock 05 rear or did the upgrade "things" and put a newer one in? Like an 08 rear??

Nevermind, I think I'm dreaming.

What is the difference between the 4x2 and 4x4 rears. Seems that the 4x have had most of the rear probs. Can you put a 4x2 rear end on a 4x4?:dunno:
