It seems if I brake pretty hard the steering wheel starts to shudder, is this normal or is it one of these brake problems I keep hearing about?

Sounds like you got the classic brake shudder. What year is your truck and how many miles? Either way I would take it to the dealer and get them to do the fix. It's only going to get worse.
Your brake rotors are warped, get them replaced and not turned and also see if your truck has had the front brake fix.

Its an 04 with about 45,000k, I am not sure if it has had the fix
That's the classic brake judder. I'd take to the dealer.
GOOD LUCK!!!

I've been through this twice and now Nissan wants me to pay!

I only have 30,000 miles... and two brake jobs? (3 months past recall warranty)

Something is not right here.

Obviously Nissan parts are CRAP !!!

But wait, the best part is that the dealer offered me a discount on new brake parts.

Great! Right?

So I have to fork out $700 every 2 years, according to Nissan... But I'll have brakes...

*%96 THAT BS...

The truck is great, Nissan replacements brake parts SUCK! And they still can't get it right!
