I was looking at the stillen headers and they say they eliminate the catalytic converter making these not street legal. Off road use only. do they make any headers that are street legal? Am I looking in the wrong spot? Not real knowledgeable about headers only what I have read on previous posts.

There is only 1 legal header for the Titan...JBA short tubes.

If they are not short tubes...they are not legal on a Titan.

The CATs are welded directly to the stock exhaust manifolds...so anything other then a short tube would eliminate or move the cats...which is illegal.

you can add cats to the b-pipes and long as you don't live in the YUPPIE state of C.A. you will pass smog fine..

anyone running the short headers? How much horsepower is added? I know the long tubes are better but how much better? is it worth voiding my warranty?

it's not going to void your warranty, lol ive been to the dealership 3-4 times and they could care less what is installed on your truck.. only thing it might void would be the exhaust system since it has ben altered, but the stock exhaust sucks so that isnt no bad thing there..

i personally think they add about 14 -16rwhp but it's hard to tell excactly what they add cause i did mine with modified b-pipes and high flow cats so resultsw will vary depending if you have a good catback like jba or a bad catback like banks.. i would never slap headers on a truck with banks exhaust it's y-pipe is just too large for gas velocity to produce low end torque.

I'm running JBA short tube headers pretty successfully.

Well I have the banks exhaust. I love the sound.. So would headers be a waste of time because of this exhaust?

wouldnt be a waste of time but you wouldnt get faster till you modded the y-pipe and the 3" pipe before it.. it will kill your low end torque..

all you would have to do would be cut the y-pipe off put on the y-pipes they sell at jegs.com i'd go with a 2.25" to single 3" y pipe they are like 45.00 then make the pipes going into the y-pipe 2.25" and trust me you will feel a huge increase in low end torque..

first off thanks toomny for all input. second would cutting the y pipes be something I need to do now or just whenever I decide to put headers on? Also who would I need to see to have this done? any custom exhaust place? I wish I knew more about trucks.

Does the JBA exhaust hurt the low end torque?

Dawgs, did you add hi-flow cats, or just regular aftermarkets? Did you do anything with the OEM reso's between the cats and muffler? I've been eye-balling those JBA shorts, probably go with hi-flow cats and thinking about just eliminating the resos if I can get away with it... short of getting it checked after installed...
