Stock locker upgrade on NON offroad

So I have a 04 4x4 XE. Has anyone done or heard if you can put the locker that comes with the offroad package on a NON-offroad titan. Seems like it should work no prob. to me.

Yes I have heard of the trutrac, and it sounds great but it is still a ONE wheel drive rear end. I NEED a real locker and it seems no one makes one in the after market world.

Any info would be great.

I think the computers are different. The trutrac has gotten some great reveiws, some have even given up the locker for it. It sure would be alot easier and cheaper. Do you have the tow package? If not than you couldn't just swap rearends and computers. You would also have to swap the gears, and that leads to other issues.
What do you need a locker for? I've used mine a lot, but there are so many situations you don't need it or wouldn't want to be throttled by the 12 mph 4LO only limitation. A Tru-trac can be used at any speed and benefits from the fact you have a 4x4 with ABLS to initialize the traction. [Some 2wd Titans also have ABLS].

My Father-in-law's '04 Hemi 4x4 has some type of true limited slip differential, but not a locker, and he has gone up every steep jeep hill that I've made.

99.999% of the time an electronic locker will not be locked so your way better off with a TT, and if your really into rock climbing and jeep trails, you need a shorter wheel base. JMO ... based upon using it.

Btw, I think rear axles go for $3500, and like helomech mentioned, unless you have the low gears of the Big Tow Pkg. (same as the Off Road Pkg.), you'll need a new front axle/diff too, (probably just as much), not sure about the transfer case, but probably ecu and wiring harness type upgrades. If your heart is set on it, look for a totaled Off Road Titan or better yet sell yours and buy one.

I NEED a Locker because I love off roading. A locker makes off roading more fun to me. As for you claim that I will only need a locker .00001% of the time I off road. It's not like I need the locker to make it up my fav jeep trails I need a longer to be able to CRAWL up my fav jeep trails. As of right now I have to attack my trails with a little momentum while my friend who has a locker doesn't You see any trail that is of a real challenge will have situations where two wheels are off the ground, and the TT will not help me.

With that said If I cant find a way to get a locker, I will have to settle for the TT

With the help of the abls the TT might work with two wheels off the ground. I am not positive, but maybe someone with it can chime in. I just think the conversion will be ALOT of trouble. I didn't see your response, do you have the tow package? If you do then it would make the swap alot easier (still difficult ) but easier.
no tow, so it seems I may have to settle for a tru trac...
You could install the factory Titan locker in any Titan, you just have to wire in a switch...

As for the TruTrac, the factory ABLS is supposed to provide enough braking to get the TT to work even if one wheel in completely off the ground, but that wheel will still spin faster then the one on the ground...
If i have a a 2wd with BT I can't get a tru trac?
