I have a 08 King Cab SE. It has the Rockford Fosgate stereo in it. I think there is a sub under the drivers seat. Any information on this stereo? What size is that sub? Is this the same quality that you buy when you purchase Rockord Fosgate a stereo store?

There is a lot of info on the RF system on this site. It has an 8 inch sub. They call it a Rockford "powered" system, but it is actually just designed by Rockford. It uses Clarion and I think Panasonic components. Hardly the quality you would expect from something with the Rockford Fosgate name on it. In fact, if you removed the sub and looked at the bottom of it you would see that it is a "Rockford Foster" hecho en Mexico.

Yah its a real letdown especially for what Nissan charges for it. Unfourtnatley you get forced to buy it because its grouped into packages.

I think I remember someone contacted people at Rockford and they said that they only provided the amp, they didnt even design the system. But I'm not sure if thats true or not.

What car has a good factory system?

Titan + Rockford = Blows
Lexus + Mark Levinson = Blows
Infiniti + Bose = Blows
Opinions, Opinions!!!

Some people like their stock system, they put out plenty of sound, and the quality is fine. Not everyone wants to thump their vehicle to death!!!

When I was young, I had a system better than most, and louder than most.

When I would get out of my car, my ears were ringing.

Now, I just like listening to my music at a nominal level, and if I want to crank it, it isn't blowing out my ear drums!!

You should respect someone's choice, and not be quick to judge what they want from their sound system!

By the way Harland, there are better systems out there, but if you like the stock system, why spend thousands of dollars for something you don't really need. If the sound is good enough for you, stick with it.

Cry me a river... Who said anything about blowing ear drums or bumping their vehicle to death. Sound Quality has nothing to do with how loud a system is or how much it thumps. Car companies rip people off with their re-branding BS. Factory systems are OK for some but they still are not worth what they cost to upgrade by any stretch of imagination.

I think, I'll pass on your offer.......

Bashing factory stereos is fine, but alot times the way you come across to people is harsh, like they are stupid to the fact that factory systems are crap. Most people know that they are not getting the premium of all systems, and that if they truly want more, they will have to go out and get what they want. Most people on average are happy with there factory systems, and don't need a "Gold" Vendor giving an opinion that is harsh and uncalled for.

It's amazing how many grown men get so butt hurt over nothing. I have had the premium system in Lexus, BMW, Infiniti, Mercedes, Toyota and many other vehicles. All I am saying is they are not worth the 2-$3000 you'll pay for them. The original question was "Is this the same quality that you buy when you purchase Rockord Fosgate a stereo store?" ANSWER: NO. What does being a GOLD vendor have to do with stating the FACTS? If I sound harsh, its all in the way your taking it.

Actually the answer is usually no, they're aren't worth it.
But here is your answer:

Again, it's how you present your answers.

If you had answered "No, these systems are not worth the extra money spent on them!"

That would have been a more respectful answer.

As a "Gold" Vendor people place you on a higher knowledge level for your products, and telling someone that their systems blows, puts you in the realm of an installer at Wal-mart!! I hope you understand why I am saying this.

Maybe a little harsh. But not uncalled-for. The guy asked specifically about the quality of his system versus aftermarket.

I think he suspected that he might not have gotten the premium of all systems, but wanted an honest evaluation from someone like the honorable Mr. Gold Venda, here.

You have to consider that there could possibly be some salesmanship in P's response, but I am sure the Nissan salesman told him with a smile that it was Rockford Fosgate. To me, that is way worse. Fraud. Which was, I think, P's point.

The Nissan salesman do take the "Rockford Fosgate" thing a bit far. I even had mine explain how awesome Rockford was and how its the best brand out there. Well I've had Rockord products for 10+ years and can tell you this isnt a true Rockford product. And as I stated before it is not worth the price they charge. Is it better than a basline version, yes. Is it as good as what you could do with the same amount of money on aftermarket stuff NO WAY. If I had the option to delete it from my LE I would have in a second.

I think that P-Dizzle wanted to express his opinion and although it might be a bit harsh its the truth. Anyone that has been into car audio, especially professionaly could go on for days about the problems with factory systems, especially the Titans.

I think what rubs most people the wrong way is how they advertise it as a "Rockford Fosgate" system however it barely qualifies as that since only one component is "Rockford Fosgate" the amp. Now if it was a true Rockford system will all real Rockford stuff I'm sure it would be 100% better.

I had the Fosgate in my 05 Titan and it BLEW. I have the baseline in my 06 and the speakers are actually cleaner. The Fosgate got louder and had more bass but distorts like hell and is very muffled. Everyone that rode in my truck thought the Fosgate was the bomb. It almost made me vomit.

They should have called it the Rockford Foster Sytem at least, then no one would ***** about it. I mean it's bad enough that I would almsot consider the system a complete Scam. The scary thing is that Rockford must have agreed to the terms to use their name, which isn't helping my trust with the company. Hell even the amp is garbage by rockford's standards.

I mean it's pretty much worse than if smoeone slapped a Nissan Emblem on an F150 and sold it as a Titan, but were not allowed to look at it untill after the sale.

That is funny. Hopefully Rockford is taking the money they make off Nissan and putting it back into their products. I am sure it funds a lot of their special edition lines.

I'm farily new to the forum but I've been dealing with custom car audio for many years. Being an installer is one of the many ways that I help put myself through college. With that said I have to say that the RF system isn't all that bad for a factory system. I was actually surprised at how good it sounded compared to other cars that I've heard. I paid 1500 bucks when I added it to my truck and I am not sure that I could have spent less to get the same sound if I were to do it after market today. I say that while keeping in mind that going after market would cost more due to the fact that most would purchase products far more superior than the factory RF. I think that there have been some good comments here. Sound is what you like and not the next person driving the car beside you. If you can push play and bump your head becuase you think it sounds good than you are getting your money worth.

If the factory stereo sounds good to you, GREAT. Most of my friends and family loved my factory Rockford system. You can do a system in a Titan that will sound better than the Rockford system for $800 easy...
