I have a 2008 Nissan Titan SE 5.6L. I had my parking brake shoes on the right side come apart a couple of years ago, and they wiped out the abs sensor tone ring backing plate, etc.. I removed the parking brake shoes and everything. My 4 wheel drive is inop. due to the sensor and tone ring damage.
I got all new everything for both sides, but can't get the axle shaft out of the housing. I removed the four nuts, the brake cable, the abs sensor and everything. I have been pulling on the axle with a large slide hammer with axle puller attachment. It doesn't seem to want to budge.
Was wondering if anyone might have ever heard of this problem before?
Thank you in advance for any help you might offer.

Finally got the axle out by heating the housing for a while. The seal was so degraded that it was fused to the axle housing.
Now I have another problem. Forgot the orientation of the seal and metal ring on the axle. Can anyone help or post a picture. Thanks so much...

I just used a hand held propane torch (like you use to sweat solder joints in copper plumbing). I sat it on the ground and pointed it at the axle housing flange, and let it heat for about 10 minutes. Gave 4 or 5 hits with my slide hammer (free loaner from Autozone), and it popped right out.... Good luck..
