So, I have been trying different things to get that pesky underbed storage door open with no luck. I have tried all of the suggested things on the forum. I tried lubing the lock cylinder and blowing out with air. I tried prying on the door while turning the key. I tried pushing in on the door while turning the key. I tried prying out and spraying lube onto the lock that way. No luck. I am using the master key with the silver logo. Has anyone that had this problem figured out a way not already suggested to get into this thing? Thanks.

I've had my truck for over a year and still haven't been able to get in to it. I was only provided the key with the black logo from the dealer. It fits the bedside storage lock, but the key won't actually turn.

I'd love to be able to utilize that space. I'm wondering if a locksmith could get me in and match it to my current key/make me another key.

I believe the black logo key is valet only. It will open the doors and start the vehicle, but will not open any storage compartments. This includes the bedside storage, glove box, and center console. In your case, I would get a master key from the dealer.

The dealer I purchased it from is down in TX, unfortunately, like 12 hours away from where I live currently.

I wonder if one of the local Nissan dealers could hook me up...

Any Nissan dealer should be able to cut you a master key, but they may charge an arm and a leg. It will be worth it, however. Get one, or if they'll make you a deal on the second one, get two. You might check with a local full-service locksmith, too, as some of them may be able to get the code from your lock and make a master.

I recently bought a new key for a 2015 Nissan Versa Note. The key had the fob functions on it and I paid $38 for the key and $14 for the cut using the vin#. I am assuming the master key should be cheaper, cut cost the same and not programming would be needed. PS they will need to verify ownership of the vehicle at the dealership. Take your latest registration and your ID. They will likely make copies of both. The dealership will not warranty the function of the key once cut. If it works or doesn't the key is yours and your money is gone. Good luck & hope my recent experience helps ease the hassle

The master key will, in fact, require programming, as it's a transponder key, and it won't be $38, I'm afraid. But it's worth a check.

Thanks for the tips guys. I'll look in to it!

If the cost of a key ends up being less than the cost of the services of a locksmith for the bedside storage and the center console, it'd be worth it anyway I suppose. Also, I'd have an extra key for when I inevitably lock myself out of my truck again... :bangit:

This guy was correct. The price for a blank master key is $20 not $38 for the Titan. The cut price is still the same $14. Where things get expensive is the programming of the transporter key. As I was at my local Nissan dealership I asked. According to the parts dept supervisor the price can vary from $60 flat programming fee to $110 for 1 hour of labor depending on the dealership. Hope it helps

So back on topic, does anyone have anything they have tried that worked to get into the underbelly storage that I haven't already tried.
Citron, sorry for the threadjack participation on my part. I was thinking the original question related to not having the master key.

I'm thinking at this point your best option is a locksmith. He may have to drill out and replace the lock cylinder on the door, but he may have a different trick or tool he can use to figure out what's wrong and resolve it. It would for sure be worth a phone call or dropping by a local locksmith's shop.

I'm wondering if a flexible fiber optic scope could be threaded in between the door and bedside and give you a view of what's wrong inside? It may be as simple as something wedged in place preventing the lock tab from moving. I have no idea if this is possible, just throwing ideas to see what sticks.

I wasn't aware a whole lot of folks were having trouble with the little storage door. Maybe I'm just lucky? Mine's working like a champ. Perhaps I should lube it now before it sticks?

Keep us posted on what you find. The good news is, locksmiths are, by nature, usually a pretty good bunch, even if they're also kind of "take no crap" guys. I think that's as much their business dealings as anything. But you should be able to at least get an idea of what it will cost to open the box and potentially a "worst case" cost to repair it. Good luck and keep us posted.

An update. I drilled the lock cylinder and removed it. I removed the latch and lubed and worked it really well. Bought a new lock cylinder from the dealer for $91. New lock cylinder keeper for $5. Got the lock cylinder keyed to my master key for $25. Reinstalled everything and it works perfectly. Had to adjust the latch slightly. Total of about 1.5 hours.

I bought my 2011 titan about a month and a half ago and have the same problem. Ive found holding the flap open with one finger and kinda flick my wrist with key in hand quick to the right works everytime. I was curious to see if it'd work on my friends truck who said he couldn't open his either. And IT WORKED! don't know if this will work for you all but its worth a shot
