Several people have mentioned that they have had problems with the dealer leaving some things, such as front license plate holders, off of their new trucks.

When the salesman gave me the keys to my new Titan he gave me a "New Vechicle Delivery System" folder which is basically a long checklist that both the mechanic that preps the truck and the salesman have to sign off on. One of the things that the salesman had to check off was whether I wanted the license plate bracket to be put on the front bumper or left off. He then had to check off that he showed me where the license plate bracket was placed in the truck if not installed.

I like this checklist system. I went over the checklist with a fine toothed comb to see if they just went through the motions or really did what was checked. I was really impressed. They didn't have a long time to prep it because I was eager to get my new Titan but the still did a great job. They calibrated the compass to my location, set the clock on the CD player as well as programmed in a couple of stations. Of course they did all the things you would expect too, like fluid levels, tire pressure, lights, AC, as well as dozens of other things. The form number is 1PD101-07/03. This is a Nissan form. I would make sure that the dealer that sells you your Titan gives you this so that you can be sure that everything is "up to snuff" before you drive away.

That is the standard "Delivery Checklist" All of our deliveries use this form. If it is not completed and retained in the deal jacket....and Nissan Audits th dealer...the dealer will be charged back for the full tank of gas. May not seem like much but if add up all the cars sold in a year..it gets hefty. It's also a question on the JD power survey.

So did they actually do this stuff, or just check the boxes? (Those vertical long lines through the check boxes don't inspire confidence.) For example, were tires at the correct pressure?

Yes they did. The tire pressure check was the third item on the Service Department list to check off. The pressure was right on the money. People have been critical of Nissan for having too much air pressure in the tires but it is the dealer's responsibility to make sure that it is right. The service tech checked most of the stuff then the salesman went over a lot of the same stuff when he explained how stuff works on the Titan when I picked it up. So, basically, I got a double check on lots of stuff. When I read the owners manual I already knew everything because the salesman had already taken the time to show me how everything works.

Sounds like you got a good dealer. My tires were at 45 PSI and I was explaining the vehicle features to the salesmen when I went in for the first oil change.
