Sunroof auto-close when ignition is turned off?

1648 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  geece1
My old Durango had a sunroof and when I turned off the ignition the thing would close automatically in 30 seconds.

Is there anyone out there that thinks that this should have been a feature?

I know we can press the button up to 45 seconds after we turn off the ignition, but it would have been nice if it was automatic or at least a setting we could turn on and off.

SUNROOF (if so equipped) AUTOMATIC SUNROOF The sunroof will only operate when the ignition key is in the ON position. The automatic sunroof is operational for about 45 seconds, even if the ignition key is turned to the ACC or OFF position. If the driver’s door or the front passenger’s door is opened during this period of about 45 seconds, power to the sunroof is canceled. Sliding the sunroof To fully open the sunroof, push the switch toward the open position 3 . To fully close the sunroof, push the switch toward the close position 4 . To open or close the sunroof part way, push the switch in any direction 5 while the roof is sliding open or closed to stop it in the desired position. Tilting the sunroof To tilt the sunroof up, push the tilt switch toward the up position 1 . To tilt the sunroof down, push the tilt switch toward the down position 2 . Restarting the sunroof sliding switch The sliding switch will become inoperable after the battery terminal is disconnected, the electrical supply interrupted and/or some abnormality detected. Use the following reset procedure to return sunroof operation to normal. 1. If the sunroof lid is open, push the tilting switch repeatedly toward the down position 2 to fully close the lid. 2. Finally, push and hold the tilting switch for more than 2 seconds toward the down position 2 to reestablish the lid’s home position. The sunroof should now operate normally. Auto reverse function (when closing or tilting down the sunroof) The auto reverse function can be activated when the sunroof is closed or tilted down by automatic operation when the ignition key is in the ON position or for about 45 seconds after the ignition key is turned to the OFF position. Depending on the environment or driving conditions, the auto reverse function may be activated if an impact or load similar to something being caught in the sunroof occurs. WARNING There are some small distances immediately before the closed position which cannot be detected. Make sure that all passengers have their hands, etc., inside the vehicle before closing the sunroof. When closing: If the control unit detects something caught in the sunroof as it moves to the front, the sunroof will immediately open backward. When tilting down: If the control unit detects something caught in the sunroof as it tilts down, the sunroof will immediately tilt up.

And the purpose of your typing in the entire page from the manual that stated what I said above was what? I already stated that it works for 45 seconds after you turn off the key.

What I was asking about a way to have it close AUTOMATICALLY (ie. without having to press the switch) after the key is turned off.

Do you have any knowledge of a way to accomplish what I am asking about?
i didn't type the page (to much work) i just copied and pasted. erroneously i thought that perhaps you weren't aware of the availability of the owners manual on line. i apologize for any undue stress or disrespect that you may have perceived from my attempt to be helpful.
No worry. I just wasn't sure what you were trying to tell me and I guess I came off as insulting.

Take no offense, there was none implied.

BTW I have the online versions of all the manuals. Gotta love a company that lets you do that.

rrumaner - Where did you find the online versions of the manuals. I have the main one, but I'm looking for the Nav Manual.

Thanks
Bill

The Titan Nav PDF download should be the last one listed:

You can download it or read it online.
