I have a Titan SE Crew 4x4, power captains, bed package, and sliding bed extender. I have had it for about a month and it has less the 1000 miles on it. At 900 miles I noticed that when you turn on the heat to the 2 or above setting, A high pitched humming noise comes from the vents.

Also, the plastic part of the tailgate on the right side below where the keyhole is is starting to come apart from the rest of the tailgate. The non key side is firm, but the key side is loose.

Anyone else having any Titan problems?

The tailgate thing happened to mine as well. There are clips that hold the plastic to the gate and slim pieces of double side tape holding the edges. My clips 'pushed' off while washing it and putting pressure at the center of the panel. Dealer is ordering new clips and the whole plastic panel for replacement.

I have the humming noise when the fan is set at 3. It almost sounds like it's coming from the speakers...

ok guys i have been waiting for someone else to post this problem. mine has been doing this since day one. i took it to dealer and they said it was the heater control box not switching the vents all the way open/ or closed. part is on order but im not sure if this will be the fixxxx dealers :boxing:

At least the ones I have come across. The Armada also does it. Close the windows and run the heat to get all the ducts good and warm. Place the mode in full defrost and run the fan up to 3 or 4 then bring it back down to 2 and it should occur if you are one of the unfortunate ones. Some vehicles will exhibit the noise in bi-level mode but only with the fan on high. It appears to be a noise caused by the air passing over something causing a reeding type of effect. It is a buzzing type of noise. Very irritating after a while. It is easy enough to remove it by changing the mode. To my knowledge Nissan is aware of the problem but has not come up with a fix yet. If anyone gets their's fixed PLEASE get as much information as possible from the technician and post here.

thanks for your input i thought it was something like that but my dealer says no. funny how they been waiting for the part so long i bet they are actually waitng on a fix from nissan. i wish they would just tell me the truth. dealers=

I have same problem..Nissan ordered me a new blower motor..

We started to tear into an Armada last week but after partial disassembly of the dash I suggested we return the vehicle to the customer and use a stock unit to make the first repair on. The manual unit on the Armada is identical to the Titan. The noise appears to be coming from the center ventilator duct (which is divided into a right and left side) or possibly the heater/cooling unit. On the vehicle we were working on the noise was loudest out of the left dash vent (with the dash assembled it sounds like some where in the center) even though no air is traveling through this duct when the noise occur. I think the duct is just allowing the noise to travel through it but leads me to believe the problem is somewhere in the left side of the center vent duct. I have a hunch it is a piece of flashing or a seal or something similar acting as a reed and vibrating under the conditions listed in my previous post. We have not had a chance to repair one as yet. Shop has been busy yada yada. Plus working as a flat rate technician it is not the type of job you want to remind anyone about, sorry just being honest. I think once a fix is discovered it will be a fix for all units as the sound is the same in all of them. My dealer is trying to trade for a red XE CC 4x4 for myself so perhaps if they are successful I may be motivated enough to dig into one. Please be patient on this one. I would make your dealer aware of the problem only if it is occurring in your vehicle. You may make mention of some of the things you read but there is a lot of internet hype out there and most of it has to be taken with a grain of salt so dealer are reluctant to act just because of something you read some where.

I doubt that your dealer is lying to you. They may not be aware that this is starting to look like a some what wide spread occurrence. Most techs will give 100% trying to repair a vehicle before seeking assistance from the higher ups. It's a matter of personal pride. I would also believe that if a part is on order it may take a long time on a vehicle this new. There just is not an excess of parts available as the ones produced go to the units being assembled. You would think it would be as easy as just snagging one off of the line but it doesn't work that way. Remember your dealer service department is the only place you have to turn when you have a problem so trust them, if you don't for some reason the I would suggest you look for one that you can trust.

I had a service manager once make a statement that stuck with me. It was made to a doctor who was being demanding and unreasonable. He told him " doc you can bury your mistakes but we have to fix ours"! I was ROTFLMAO and we never saw him again, which was fine by me.

thanks david, i believe your right i have heard this sound in a couple vehicles and thats odd that it would be a heater assembly. i think its what you are talking about. please keep us posted on what you find out. thanks, john

Thanks David S. I had the same problem in my Dodge. Drove me nuts. The dealer said it was a leaf sucked into the vent and they would have to tear the entire dash out to fix it. HUH?? Well I never let them fix it. I could not stand the idea of them ripping apart the dash and I never belived the leaf story. I hope my new truck does not do this as it really would be a let down but to know you are on it makes me feel better. Thanks
