damn, look to see if courtesyparts dot com has that inner part sold individually.

as for access, you lift the tailgate half way up....or like a 45 degree angle and pull the drivers side back and AT THAT ANGLE, the tailgate comes off.

first remove the tail gate "ropes" from each side and best to have two people because its a large awkwardly shaped and weighted item...kinda goofy to lift and set down with out risk of damaging the tail gate.

Same issue I had. Here is the part you need. Fyi, it is unpainted.

I've yet to do the actual fix, but there is a writeup somewhere on here. There is also a video on youtube. Try searching "nissan titan tailgate hinge fix," or something along those lines. From what I recall, the worst part was getting the torx bolt loose, as it's one of those parts that the good old factory gorilla tightened down. The rest is fairly simple.

Easy job. My 10 year old New York bolts came loose with some patience.
