Tailgate won't come down. Left hook not on pin

My buddy slammed it too hard the other day and it's stuck up. The right hook is latched onto the pin but the left is not. The left hook is down but as you can see in the pictures the pin is not inside of it. I tried sticking a screw driver in there to lift it up to no avail. And yes, it's unlocked.

Nissan wanted to charge $128 just to look at it, let alone do anything.

Any suggestions?
