I just sold my Chevy Duramax, I didn't need a 3/4 ton any more and wanted a half ton. I have been looking to buy something else other than Ford, Chevy or Dodge and have been looking for about three weeks now. I finally found what I think is a good deal. 2008 4X4, crew cab Titan with only 46,000 miles on it. I went Saturday to the dealership to look it over; clean title and all service work done by Nissan dealership. It seems very clean for a Wisconsin truck, not a spot of rust anywhere but the rear leaf springs and the interior is spotless. The family and I took it for a spin and every thing seemed great! So I made the deal; $17,600, I didn't think that was too bad? I've been looking at years 2008-2012, depending on millage the prices seem to range from $16,000-$20,000, if under a 100,000 miles. So I put $9,000 down on it and I am coming back on Wednesday with the rest of the cash. Now I'm all nervous; did I make the wrong choice, too good to be true, what am I over looking, etc? So before I pull the pin and finish the deal is there anything I might be missing? Please let me know guys. Thanks

Seems like a pretty good deal.

If axle seals not weepy and no cracked headers (ticking at block), ride on.

Also, check the parking brake pads, the factory ones are garbage that will open a large repair bill when they come apart. The cheapest set of pads and hardware from auto-zone are far better than the factory set up. The price actually seems to be on par. The Titan is not acknowledged as holding it's value, but I've priced them on the used lots, and it almost makes me want to sell mine (Though I have no idea what I could replace it with and be happy). I have actually seen 20K-ish mile, 2 year old first gen Titans on used lots for MORE or just barely less than the price of a brand new one at the Nissan dealership (Of course, not anymore). I think you'll enjoy the truck.

Man a 2008 Nissan Titan 4x4 Se for $17,600
And it only has 46k miles on it!! That a heck of a deal!! I bout mine for $14,500
it's a 2008 Nissan Titan Se, 2wd only and had 70k miles on it and I was already happy with my decision, you saw all the maintenance record scheduals and car fax...! And the truck drives good and everything looks good I'd would of jump on that in a heart beat!! Reasons are low mileage and most of all it's a 4x4 and it was well taken cared of! I don't see the problem at all!
I have had my truck for a year now and 2008 titans are solids trucks in my expierience I had no problems on it what so ever. Just normal maintenance as usual. When I first got my truck I took it out and had all the oils and lubricants done for he truck as well as transmission service within the first week so I know that my truck has everything possible taken cared of, that cost me about $500-$600 extra and it's insurance for yourself!!
My opinion is you have your self a very great deal and 08 titans are solid trucks and that's the year they made all the improvements on from the previous years 04-06 lacked on! Improved brakes, engine hp/torque, etc

Thanks guys. I guess buying and taking it home would of been more fun and less stress but waiting to get it...I think you start second guessing yourself and look for reasons to justify your purchase. I'm excited as heck, but a lil nervous yet. I bought a 2004.5 Chevy Duramax 2500 HD for my past business and put 146,000 miles on it and it was an amazing and dependable truck for me. Guess still I still feel a lil loyalty towards Chevy but wanted to try something different. I hope it goes well.

Hey guys, I want to get some Nerf bars for it (stainless), tonneau cover and some mud flaps? I've been looking at amazon etc. any suggestions where else? Oh I was thinking of updating the shocks (Bilstein), they probably don't need it yet but I read some reviews on doing it and it makes a very nice difference. I don't need any lift either...I don't need extra repair cost. Thanks for any info!

congrats! since its an 08 it should be a pretty reliable truck! Expect the manifolds to crack in the next 60k miles though.

I've always been a fan of Chevy and really wanted your old vehicle (Duramax 2500 HD) when I was trucking shopping about 5 years ago for something to pull my camper. Couldn't find one that I could afford at the time with reasonable amount of miles on it, so I bought my Titan instead - 2005 Crew Cab 4x4 LE - and haven't been disappointed. It runs well, pulls well, and has some nice features for a truck that's 10+ years old. The CAB is humongous and everyone who sits in the back always comments on how much room they have. It pulls my 7000lb camper better than I expected, and it's been a good truck overall. When I replace it in a couple more years, I'm still going to look at a 3/4 ton Chevy, but I'm definitely going to test drive a Titan XD as well. You made a solid purchase in my opinion, and that sounds like a good price for the low mileage.

You can always search the for sale section for some running boards/nerf bars, a cover, and mud guards. I personally don't mind the the OEM running boards as the are wide enough for me and my 4 year old can get in and out easily even with my lift and bigger tires. I have a tri-fold tonneau cover and like how easy it is to fold back or take off. If you want to upgrade, and I would, shocks and struts you could go with the bilstein 5100's or save a few bucks and just get the 4600's if you aren't worried about any lift.

s an owner of 2008 LE from the northeast bought for 20K two years ago with 42K on the odometer here are the things I would be prepared to do if you had a mouth breather own it like I did

Radiator twice already on my second learn lesson next time getting koyorad aluminum and additional transcooler (plastic tanks are going to fail accepted it moved on)
Replaced one wheel hub and both front brake calipers
Replaced thermostat, housing and gasket
currently chasing a coolant leak think I narrowed it down to thermosat housing assembly gaskets or water pump. Leak is miniscule but smell of antifreeze bothers me
Change all drive line fluids, All of them
Your roof mounted center console in the back is going to fail, order a new one
outer tie rod ends and shocks.
Saving for Cajun upgrade, after many Nissan know too well that exhaust is their weak point
need to do rear parking brake pads

Mechanically other than above truck drives great and is very roomy. Realize it is a ten year old

What do I look for as far a radiator failure? Doesn't Nissan have scheduled maintenance intervals as far as fluid changes? What do I look for as far as the rear parking pads failing? Thanks!
