I think you made a smart move by saying no. It could be the battery, water in the fuel, perhaps a bad fuel pump connection or who knows. But if you know a new vehicle has an issue, I would avoid it.
Keep in mind, even if the dealer will fix any issues, you have to take time out to bring it into the dealer, drop it off, pick it up, etc.
