ok guys as the tittle says...

I got rear ended at this past Baja 1000 and I got the wife convince that we should paint the truck and upgrade to prerunner bumper, (front and back)

I was trying to look into that paint scratch resistant, but I cant remember the name of it( I know theres a thread here) so I was thinking doing the plastic dip since I scratch the truck all the time with bushes while offroading in Baja.

so im mostly looking for scratch resistant paint and I think PD its the choice..

any one that ACTUALLY has done it?

Plasti dip is the opposite of scratch resistant. If you scratch it it'll start peeling. It's not actual paint, it's a rubberized aerosol.

If you want something more scratch resistant I would think professional level bedliner would be better suited to it. The spray on stuff from auto stores looks decent and holds up decently, but it'll still scratch if hit hard enough.

Plasti Dip will protect the paint underneath, that's the entire point of people using it on their cars. They don't have to ruin the paint job to do it. Even if it does tear you can repair those areas in 15 minutes.

It will protect the paint underneath, but fixing a tear isn't a 15 minute process. If you just respray over the tear or peel a piece off and respray you will definitely see the difference in paint levels. Also, you can easily see where the spot is if you apply touch up and don't repaint the whole panel of the truck that's scratched. I've tried to do both on my truck in different areas and I've ended up repainting the whole area so it has a clean look.

I just did my bed extender and definitely regret it. It's only been a couple weeks and for very little use its all beat up. I need to peal it off and bedline it instead. I don't know that I would recommend it for anything except maybe to black out emblems.
