Thoughts on titan vs. hemi ram

Im condsidering buying a titan king cab se. I'm wondering if I would be able to pull on hemis

Nothing would give me greater satisfaction

Test drove the F-150, the Tundra, the Dodge Ram 1500 Hemi and the Titan. (did not try the chebby) - Of this bunch, the Ram was the worst handling and the noisist. The Titan out performed all of the on all counts - it easily blows away the Hemi off the line - Car and Driver Mag test the Titan at 6.9 seconds 0 to 60 mph.

I found one with the right specs and color at a dealer in Dover DE - I pick it up this Friday! Can't wait.

I think Ill take mine in black.....my dealership just got their first shipment. Have to take a look.

I drove ALL the full sized pickups available today. The Dodge doesn't drive like 345HP. Chevy is pretty good. Ford is bouncy and slow.

I have a Tundra - the fastest 1/2 available, aside from the Titan. The Titan beats it in EVERY category, in my book.

I WANT ONE. I'm gonna buy one as soon as I see incentives (rebates).

From what I read, Nissan is trying to stay away from discounts. That is why they priced them less than the compitition.

The local Nissan dealer told me to expect rebates by March or so.

Could be just a ploy to get me back into the dealership....we'll see.

I have driven all the full sized trucks except the Chevy/GMC, I just don't like them.

The first truck I drove was the Ram Hemi. I liked that you can get 4 full doors and a 6.5 ft bed. I like the body styling too. 345 hp sounds impressive, but it didn't feel like 345 hp should. I drove the 4x4. My wife went with me to drive that truck and she was also disappointed with the performance. Marketing made such a big deal out the the Hemi and it was nothing but hype.

Then I drove the F-150, which has a nice bodystyle, but the interior is awesome! Ford's big claim for the Triton was the torque. I thought "OK, low-end torque is a good thing. Maybe that's why the Hemi wasn't impressive." Well, I wasn't thrilled with the performance of the F-150 either.

Drove a Tundra Double Cab. I liked the fact that it had 4 full doors and a full bed. I was expecting to be completely disappointed by the performance because 300hp and 345 hp didn't do much, how could 240 hp compare? Well, I was impressed when comparing it to the previous two trucks! So, out the 3, this was the one.

Then along came the Titan. This is the performance I was expecting! The only drawback is, you can't get a full size bed with the crew cab. Everything else about the Titan can bring me to overlook that. Great truck, I can't wait to own one! As far as comparing it to the Hemi, If you compare the configurations that I have been looking at (4x4, 4 doors) the Hemi can't compete.

Titan is quicker than all of the Big 3.

04 F-150 weighs too much and must loose lots of HP on the tranny to be that slow.

It's hard to not gas the Titan when you drive it because the exhaust sounds pretty cool.

Titan VS Ram 1500 Hemi

In our training we compared the Titan with the Dodge Ram 1500 Hemi. We put a car carrier behind both trucks with a Ford Taurus on them. Identical weight, size, and even color. Both trucks were side by side and drag raced. From the get go the Hemi didn't have a chance. The Titan won the quarter mile race by about 2 truck lengths. After seeing this and driving all the different trucks, I'm positive the Titan will blow away the competition.

My dad has a directly comparable to my titan ram 1500 QC hemi w/ 17in. wheels 4X4, there even within 200 miles of one another on the odometer. The dodge tranny sux, you have to pretty much floor it to get it to kick down, then the motor just screams, what I would expect a 4 cyl pickup with an auto to do. Haven't raced him yet but the titan certainly feels more powerful. The titan although more enjoyable to drive on the street isn't just a highway queen like the dodge, it also has some off road capability. I don't think I would dare even take my pops dodge down a dirt road, certainly not a trail with any sort of obstacle. Also the dodge looks considerable dated when parked next to the titan.

Funny story, my bro in law just bought a new 1 ton cummins dodge. Traded his 1 yr. old dodge 2500 4X4 hemi for it. He couldn't stand the tranny and poor gas milage, I don't think letting him drive the titan helped either. But anyways the first dodge dealer he went to,while talking to the sales guy he mentioned that I had just bought a titan. He said this bozo started just dogging the titan saying it was under powered, minimal interior space and unreliable. He laughed and told the guy he had no clue, and that his old truck doesn't have near the snort of the titan. Then immediatly left for another dealer and spent $40k on a diesel. Sounds like the dodge sales guys are pretty scared of the titan.

I wouldn't say that the salesman is scared of the Titan. They would say that about ANY vehicle a potential buyer showed the slightest interest in. Doesn't matter if it's true or not!

just the other day i test drove the new CC silverado, a hemi ram 4x2 on 20's, and the tundra double cab. the silverado CC seems real small inside compared to my TITAN. it's real low to the ground and the cab seems tiny. the 5.3 seemed REAL underpowered to me. i know that it will pick up over time, but i went full throttle and it took me quite a while to get up to the speed that i would easily achieved in my TITAN. the new double cab tundra is nice and spacey inside, and the 4.7 was actually quite nice. it obviously couldn't compare to the 5.6, but was pretty peppy and has a nice get up and go off the line. it definately was packing more punch than the 5.3 from chevy. the vaunted hemi ram was also nice and strong as the tundra, but didn't really blow my socks off. it was fast but i wondered where all the hype was coming from... it really felt it's weigh and i did not handle very well. i dont like that bigger american feel of the steering wheel, i like the tighter japanese feel. the interior was blahh, i liked the steering wheel design but nothing else. the TITAN is definately the best full-size pick-up out there folks.

TO tell you the truth i used to have a hemi but know i own a TITAN and do you know why ..................... ok well i'll tell you because the new TITAN came out and when i test drove it it made the hemi feel weak. take the TITAN i'm more than sure you can pull on hemis i haven't loss a race yet to any hemi the only thing hemi that came close to beating me was a reg cab hemi on 17's those trucks are real light but it still was not enough for the TITAN.

I test drove a Hemi before the Titans came out and really liked it, but I really didn't care for the interior (why no bucket seats?). Decided to wait for Titan...So glad I did, the Titan pulls a little stronger and much smoother, and ride/interior/transmission are no comparison.

I test drove a Hemi Ram (couple of them) and thought that the engine felt OK. It wasn't slow but it didn’t' feel like 345 horsepower especially when compared to mine with 245. The ride was choppy but it handled very well. There was almost no body lean in corners and the steering was very quick. The brakes had a good feel to them and the interior seemed well put together, much better than the previous Dodges had been. I didn't like the excessive wind noise though coming from the weather strip around the windows. That to me was irritating.

I had a Chevy Silverado 4.8 rental for four days and I don't have much good to say about that truck. It was underpowered and cheaply made. The 5.3-liter engines in our work trucks though feel like they have adequate power.

I test drove a Titan and felt that the engine made most of its power under 4500 RPM. I took it on the highway expecting it to accelerate briskly from 45 mph and it accelerated quickly but it wasn't what I was expecting. It feels like the torque curve takes a nose drive after 4500 rpm. The transmission though does a great job of keeping the engine in its power band. The Titan handles very well and rides nicely. The inside of the Titan isn’t as well made as the Ford F-150 or the Tundra but it’s better than the Chevy and maybe the Dodge.

I’ve run a few HEMI Trucks at the track. They seem to really get quick after the engine breaks in. Car and Driver got a new 2WD regular cab HEMI Ram to run 0-60 in 6.8 seconds. My buddy’s larger heavier quad cab 2WD HEMI Ram ran a 14.9 @ 90+ mph at the drag strip with just an exhaust on a cold night. Most of the time he HEMI Ram ran 15.1+ @ 89 mph on warmer nights. I also witnessed a brand new F-150 with the 3v 5.4 run low sixteen’s at that same strip.

scupper. Hemi the worst handling. HMMM I wonder why all the reviews Ive read claim the hemi Ram1# in the slalom. As for the Hemi and Titan drag racing. It's so close the magazines cant call it. Every review Ive read either took a 3/4 ton against a Titan or it was an all wheel drive 1/2 ton. I want to see a truck to truck comparison. something like 1/2 4door on [17' WHEELS] VS a 1/2 4 door on 17's.

I thought the Srt 10 and the lightning where a half ton's . And don't count Gm out because the 6.0 will be coming in a half ton soon

The Srt 10, and Lightning are half ton's. As far as the hemi not feeling like 345hp. He's right there when it comes to take off feeling. Throttle by wire kills the take off power of the hemi. Its surely not the engine that kills the feeling. Thats shown by real life 1/4 mile times, and not some BS magazine that gives props to whatever company thats sends more cash to them. Dodge chose to advertise commercials, Nissan chose magazines. facts show hemi quads run 15.3 RC 4x4's run 15.1, and RC 2x4's run high 14's bone stock. The titan definantly feels faster, and to some thats all that matters. To others the fact the hemi is faster matters. Its all personal opinion. If you like your truck, thats all that matters. All its got to do is serve its purpose weather it be commute, haul, tow, race, sit in garage, rust away it dont matter. If it does what you bought it to do then its a good truck.

hey budman, we all know that all those magazines are BS, i mean come on who wants to believe car and driver?? those guys havent established any kind of reputation at all! its funny over at dodge truck world all the dodge guys bash the new f-150 saying its slow. but how do they know this? thats right, thru magazines. they all say it themselves, but when it comes to the hemi getting beat by the TITAN, then all of a sudden the magazines are full of $#*^. funny. i personally have driven both, my truck is a 4X2 CC on 18's and i drove a laramie QC 4X2 on 20's, one right after the other, and the TITAN had more pull and power than the hemi. dont get me wrong, the hemi dominated the 5.3 from chevy and the 4.7 from toyota, but didn't compete with the TITAN. i know those magazines are all BS, but there are plenty of threads over on DTW where guys with QC's talk about running 16's, so they perhaps aren't all lies are they budman? i mean how do you guys know the f-150 is slow? either way, these are both potent engines and definately put the the ferd-150 to shame fortunately.
