Im having an issue with my titan, sometimes i can floor it and it'll engage and take off like crazy, other times like today i was rolling at like 5mph floored it and it never wanted to kick in and take off, it took it's sweet time picking up speed. I had to let off the gas and floor it again. im not sure whats going on but if you floor it, it should grab hold and take off.

im even running the bully dog tune with WOT removed. At a stand still i can light up the tires, but if im already moving it doesnt do as great. does this sound like the engine or tranny? or is this normal?

Dam hell no it's not normal. I have the bullydog aswell but even without it it lights up the tires no prob. Sounds like a tranny issue to me cause it may not be downshifting but maybe some one else can chime in

i have that same problem actually...ill be on the freeway and sometimes i floor and it takes off real quick...other times i floor it and i hear the engine pushing but i have no real movement not until a few seconds after!

My trucks engine is stock
I just have it lifted with some 35"s

Maybe an incline is not noticeable....? MAYBE IDK

yeah dude not normal at all. Did you buy it private sell? or buy with no warranty? tranny is covered under 60k powertrain warranty.

exactly! the engine wants to go, but the truck doesnt! lol

and i just noticed my warranty is still good for 10,000 more miles. but if i took it to the dealer and told them it doesnt respond quick enough when i floor it, they gonna laugh at me. under normal diving conditions there is nothing wrong. but one day a 1980's chevy is gonna outrun me. lol

figure out if it's the tranny or the engine first...if it's the engine it could be bad gas or sensors. I have a scagauge and I can watch my tpms signal as well as timing while on the throttle. stupid question but did you turn off vdc?

Well from reading on other sites and from personal experience ( g35 coupe) and gf's 2007 xterra if the titan is the same the ecu after time starts to go into let me say granny mode or some of the sensors get a little out of wack like throttle position and usually an ecu reset seems to help the problem . my gf was complaining of a delay in the xterra getting moving sometimes when getting on it . i disconnected the negative cable on her battery over nite and asked her the next day how it was and she said it was a definite improvement . if i start having that problem on my titan thats the 1st thing im gonna try so far im loving it with the bully dog

what is VDC? also come to think about it every now and then when the truck does this i get a check engine light that is a multiple cylinder misfire.

i wonder if the two are related? but i dont always get the check engine light when the struck doesnt want to go ,just sometimes.

so now im thinking maybe it's the plugs, gas, fuel pump or fuel injector?

So i should disconnect the negative cable from battery? maybe that would work? I dont think it is the tranny...i just got it serviced....fluid is fine and doesnt smell burnt or anything negative about it at all

i dont think that would help, i reset mine just 2 months ago, and the problem is still there. but you can try it. maybe it'll work for you.

I did the ECU reset after I experienced the same thing and it worked for me. Look for that thread and it will explain how to do it without disconnecting the battery.

If you are getting cylinder misfire codes, you should check your spark plugs. Also, how's your air filter...maybe yout K&N needs cleaning? Check the intake and throttle body for dirt and clean if necessary. When is the last time you changed the tranny fluid and dif gear oils? Check the simple stuff and do the ecu reset and see if that helps.

its not the spark plugs its the transmission. mine does it every once in a while and it gets on my nerves. i started to manual shift it from time to time. since ive added cams its done it more often but my transmission is coming out soon for a rebuild :D

well would there be any way to get the dealer to fix the transmission for this problem? they could test drive but prob never get it to do it while they are driving. so chances are they will tell me everything is fine.

With the mods on your truck, no doubt that you are in need of a tranny rebuild soon.

With regards to the OPs problem, transmission problems don't cause cylinder misfire SES codes. Maybe the two problems are unrelated, but in my experience, cylinder misfire codes are a good indication that your spark plugs might be bad.

as far as NGK IX Iridums go they are good preformance plugs, but if you have a flexfuel titan you already have NGK iridum plugs but they are different than the IX plugs, the 2 main differences are the oem IR plugs have a thicker IR center and also have a platnum pad welded to the ground strap. the factory flexfuel plug part number is DILFR5A-11D it's made by NGK japan and is made to last 100,000 miles as the IX IR preformance plugs they are good for about 30,000 miles and are assembled in the us with parts made in japan. hope this helps.
