OK, so we've got this 2006 Titan now. Had it for almost 2 weeks and love driving it. But some questions...

1-this truck has the storage compartment behind the rear tire, driver's side. How do you open it? Inserting the key does not work, as the key will not turn.

2--I want to put a tri-fold bed cover on it, looking to keep the cost down so I don't want a hard shell one. Any suggestions on a good one? Looking to keep the cost under $300 if possible.

3--This truck has no lights for the center console. The radio screen and "passenger air bag" light both work normally, but the radio buttons and AC controls stay dark when I turn the lights on. I was told to check a 10 amp fuse under the hood, which was blown, and so I replaced it. It did not change anything, the lights still do not work. Going to go out to the truck in a minute and pull the new fuse to see if it's blown again....but they never worked, not even for a second.

4--the dimmer switch does not work at all. It does not dim or brighten the dash lights, and when you click it all the way up it does not turn on the interior lights. Is this a known issue, and if so, what kind of fix would take care of this?

I should mention that the truck is stock, but with a trailer brake installed--was that way when I got the truck. The trailer brake appears to be hard-wired in, I have not dug into tracing the wires just yet to see if it might be connected to these issues.

The valet key will not open the storage compartment. The regular keys will. If you're using a regular key try shooting some lock lubricant into the key hole and let it sit a while before trying again.

Good trailer brake installers will use the Nissan harness, which snaps right into a dedicated connector. Crappy ones will cut into the wiring and splice where no splices are needed (or desired), just to save not buying a $20 pigtail harness. If your trailer brake controller ends in a connector, that's not your problem. If it ends with a splice, start there.

Thanks for this, I'm going to go out and check it right now....

EDIT, I just looked. There's a connector that's on the far left, right around where the parking brake pedal is. The wiring from this trailer brake is zip-tied to the bracket near the diagnostic port, and then runs across to the left, and into that connector. Thankfully it looks like I can just unplug it and remove it that way. Still leaves me scratching my head about the console lights though. The power window buttons all light up, the gauges light up, it's only the A/C, stereo controls, and the shift position indicators that stay dark.

I have the 2004 LE and am seeing the same issue. My A/C light does work though. Could it be an individual light for each? Maybe someone has had the same issue and Fix. I will post any find unless someone can help.

So, I'm finally going to get to remove the trailer brake today. Been way too crazy lately with the weather and everything else. It's coming out in a minute. I'll report back if there's any difference. Since they did use the wiring harness, somehow I don't think this will change anything but since I want to remove that brake anyways, no harm no foul

EDIT....just removed it. Went back under the hood, and the "illumination" fuse that I just replaced is blown again. It must have blown the instant it got power. But all the wiring from the trailer brake went through that one harness....makes me think that the problem is somewhere else. There's nothing else in this truck that I can see that's not stock....so this makes me wonder where the short is....any thoughts?

Not sure what could cause this, or where to look. Trailer brake was not hard-wired, so no wiring was cut or messed with. It blows the new fuse the instant I turn on the lights. Today, I tried it. For just a second, the dimmer switch worked....then, it was blown fuse and back to the same. Could the dimmer itself be bad?
