Hey,

Would like to know what kind of after market spark plugs you guys are running on your titans, and if your gaining anything from them?

Thanks.

I'm still running the original plugs at 55k, but I have heard repeatedly to just cough up the coin for the correct OEM NGK Iridiums. Apparently there are virtually no gains to be had by going to any different plugs. I'll be curious to see what others have to say on the matter, but every time this comes up I hear the same thing - NGK Iridium replacements are the best choice.

Put 8 of these in at 100k. Didn't notice a difference.

Seems by now someone would have come up with one. Plugs today are about the same technology as what people used in the 50's. Except for a little platinum on them now..... Also, the newer plugs are supposed to last 100k miles so I wouldn't change them unless you're having issues.

I tested the NGK plugs to the Pulse star plugs. Dyno tested the ngk plugs first. Made 3 pulls. Shut off the truck on the Dyno and installed the Pulse stars. Gained 2 HP average on 3 more pulls. Not a huge gain but something.

I've read a few people saying they actually saw dyno proven gains off switching to Pulstar plugs. One guy even said 12hp! I just can't get over $13 a plug!

I have a tune, so I have comps. Used 93 tune BDGT then got Uprev Tuner , Mapped fatter than BDGT.
So Anyway I use E3 plugs.
Yes, every 30k you must change them but do the math its almost the same price.
They do burn like hell! Instant noticeable difference.,
A stock tune they are not a good choice.

can not go wrong with NGK`s. put back what was in your truck from nissan. There is no magic spark plug to create more power.
argumentatively there are to many variables when doing back to back tests.

I`m actually using the NGK Plats in a colder heat range for my application.

Only two plugs you will ever need to get are the following:

NGK IRIDIUM LFR5AIX-11 (part # 4469) stock heat range.

Or if you are making 75 to 100hp over stock.

NGK IRIDIUM LFR6AIX-11 (part # 6619) one step colder.

Parts stores have these for $8.00 to $8.50 each.

Best plugs you can get for the Titan.

None of that E3 or pulsar bullshiit.

now Cory may be able to elaborate on this:
back in the day we didn`t use iridiums when going forced induction due to the small flame kernel from the fine wire.

today I`m not sure of the life span of an iridium plug if used in a SC`d application.
The manufacturer of the SC recommends the Platinum plugs one step colder...

what`s your thoughts Cory?

Back in the day I'm assuming we didn't have coil on plug setups. Plus as long as the gap is correct as well as heat range iridium is fine.

Copper would be ideal. But to heck with changing them more frequent than an iridium.

Iridium is used in many forms of forced induction and nitrous. Haven't really read a problem with them.

The flame kernel front can be positioned in the cylinder head towards the intake valves. This is called indexing. Maybe not as pertinent in a cylinder head with the plugs directly in the center of the chamber.

I do this on my Iron 883 and it made a noticeable difference in response.

But yeah heat range and gap are the main important parts.

Well after hearing all of the words of wisdom from y'all. I just got done changing my old Bosch plugs out with some NGKs

These were the old plugs I removed. Weren't in there very long, but the truck just felt strange after swapping the original with these Bosch plugs

A friend of mine has an '07 Armada with 160K miles and the original plugs. He should be swapping them out next weekend. I'll try to get pictures.
